Trap & camera are key!!! Our boy was finally trapped after 45days! Seen almost nightly on camera. Local the entire time!! Don’t give up! CHECK GARAGES ETC!!

Immediately: Search at dusk and dawn — cats are most active then and more likely to respond Call their name in a calm, quiet voice — not loud, which can frighten them further Shake their favorite treat bag or food container — that sound is deeply familiar Leave their litter box outside — this actually IS very effective because the smell is extremely strong and distinctly theirs and bring it inside at night to prevent other critters..put it back outdoors as soon as possible in the morning..first light is best Leave your worn clothing outside — this does help, combined with other methods Actively search: Check hiding spots — under porches, decks, bushes, in garages Ask neighbors to check sheds and garages.. in the beginning your kitty is very very close most likely. Search within a 3-5 house radius first — scared cats often hide very close by Spread the word: Post on Nextdoor, Facebook local groups, and Lost & Found Cats, online and physical, organizations of your county/city, publications and animal control, police and local shelters immediately. All the immediately work will make the difference. Create flyers with a clear photo and your phone number immediately with reward. Place in all convenience stores and anywhere else thst allows the posting. Include a reward on the poster reward. People who may have found your cat may be motivated to return it in light of getting cash. Their litter box (most effective scent item)..again at night bring it in and put in a porch.or place where the scentcan get through a window. Put out their bed or blanket where it not get wet but outside. Of course a bowl of their food. I can't stress enough the effectiveness of flyers with reward and photo in all local places that allow community posts. Also Nextdoor Neighborhood app..invaluable. Check extremely good around your house and neighbors, shrubs, bushes, high grass, paper bags and trees, underneath porches and decks, outbuilding and garages, evening time when it’s quiet too, check all shelters in your county and animal control also.

Have you checked sheds, garages, etc...? If you have a regular feeding time, get some sardines, people tuna or a roaster chicken from the supermarket and go outside and call his/her name. Also put some dry food in a plastic container and shake it while you are looking for him/her. DO NOT LEAVE food outside because it will attract other critters. Get a good flashlight and look up trees at night and in the morning when it is still dark outside. You know (or should know) what your cats like, for examples: if they like catnip, use that to attract them or mine know the sound of the laser light key chain and come running when I pick it up. Put their litter box outside but do not leave it outside unattended because it will attract other critters. Also put out some dirty clothes so they can catch scents. The best time to find escapees is either early in the AM while it is still dark out or early PM when it is getting dark. Cats usually hide during the day. Chances are he/she isn't far from home. Put him/her on nextdoor, craigslist, pawboost and print out flyers to hang around your neighborhood, don't just call the humane society or check their website, go there in person every day! There are numerous lost/found pet pages on facebook, be sure and put him/her on there too! Also, call all of the local vets, he/she could have gotten picked up and taken to a vet, local shelter.

Go outside at night with a bag of treats and a FLASHLIGHT (an absolute must). Call his name while shaking the bag of treats and shining the flashlight. Most indoor cats are frightened at night and stay stationary. The flashlight will catch his eyes. This isn't necessarily a one time attempt. Consistency is what will remove fear from the cat and what will get him to come to you. Praying you find him soon and safe!

They usually don’t venture far. It’s probably scared & hiding near by in bushes or an open garage. Most kitties will stay put in their safe hiding spot. ( if they’re not fixed they can wonder further, depends on circumstances) Ask neighbors to check their sheds, decks, garages. They usually venture out at night after 24-48hrs when they start getting hungry. The “witching” hour when they come out is 3am. If you see your pet, don’t try to grab it, it’s still on survival mode and will run. Just sit down maybe with some treats and let your pet come to you. (Remember, never put the litterbox outside. Other cats will mark it & scare your cat away. Just in case, also set some humane traps near by, hide them in the bushes where your pet might hide. Good luck & don’t lose hope. Pray to St Anthony, he hasn’t let me down. 🙏🏻🐾

Go out at night when it’s quiet and call for him or her. Sit there, keep calling for him or her, and wait. It may take a couple of hours. Look under bushes with a flashlight. Look up in trees, maybe he got up there and too scared to come down. Knock on car’s hoods. They like to keep warm in car wheels or inside engines. Put something that smells like you out with a can of tuna. Maybe set up a humane trap. Some say leave a door open, so he could come in. Put up fliers and ask your neighbors to make sure he’s not locked up in their garages, sheds, basements, attics. Call local vets and actually go to shelters. Sometimes, animals are brought into shelters before the front office knows about them. Saying St. Anthony’s prayer to find pets and things can’t hurt. Good luck. 🙏🙏
