Message from Owner

Any help or information about my missing cat, Benny, 7yrs old, would be an absolute blessing! He has been missing since Sunday, September 13th. He visited a neighbors hse that morning and has not been seen since. He is an indoor/outdoor cat that always comes home at least once daily for food, water, & pets. He thoroughly enjoys galavanting our neighborhood and visiting our neighbors. A very smart and sweet/friendly boy. He responds to his name and acts more like a dog. My 3 year old daughter and I miss him so much!! Any help or information would be beyond appreciated. Thank-you for taking the time to read & share this!

Carmel Amanda All great tips ♥️ everytime mine gets out i find him using flashlights even in the daytime. Walked by my cat 3 times and didnt see him till the light hit his eyes. Totes made into a shelter also help. I've caught 4 strays using the tote method

Make a cat house out of a tote. Don't need the Styrofoam cooler as its still warm out. I put the sheets off my bed for a scent and put dry food and wet food inside and water outside. They usually stick around

Post to Missing Pets In The Northland if you haven't done so already. Put something out with familiar smells on it like litter box, bedding, or unwashed clothes, n some food. Check garages out and if you have, ask neighbors to do the same thing. Walk at around your yard or neighborhood at night with a flashlight n shaking a bag of treats softly calling kitty's name or a phrase kitty responds, stop and listen for a reply back to you n watch for glowing eyes looking at you. Look under brush, bushes n shrubs and look up in trees as kitty may be stuck and can't get down. Put up posters with a clear picture on it and contact information. If you have a trail cam, put it out to see if your kitty is coming around at night. You may need to set a live trap n monitor it regularly. If your kitty is microchipped, make sure the contact information is current and the chip is registered with the chip provider. You can check the chip number at American Animal Hospital Association Microchip Registry Look-up. If it's registered, it should come up with who the provider is. Click the link, log in or create an account, enter your contact info, description, n pics. If it doesn't come up with a provider, it may not have been registered. You can register the microchip with a provider like HomeAgain, SmartTag, AKReunite for a one-time fee of $14 I believe, then it's free for life This is how I found out one of my kitty's microchip was not registered. They generally don't go far from home n will find a place to hide that they will feel safe in. Don't lose hope your kitty will be found. I pray your little one will be found soon, safe n sound. Keep us posted. 🐾😿😢💔🙏🏻🙏🏻

Here are some tips to help bring your cat back home: Search the neighborhood and ask if you can look in their their yard yourself rather than just ask if they've seen your cat. They might not have noticed if a cat has been hiding under their deck. LOOK IN SMALL SPACES such as basement window wells, under cars, bushes, sheds, under decks, wood piles, drainage pipes etc. ***Please go outside and call for her especially once it is dark and quiet. Call for your cat and wait for a meow back. This is critical in case your cat is trapped somewhere. A live trap rented from the pound may be successful. One tip is to use a baby monitor or other security camera pointed in your yard toward the trap so you can monitor if and when your cat is coming around since it’s often in the dark of night. Check small spaces she could be hiding under or in. A number of local cats were recently found locked in neighbor's garage attics (ask neighbors to check their garages, sheds, window wells, etc), and another cat was recently found in a nearby drainage ditch.** PUT OUT THEIR LITTERBOX. Sounds weird, but it works. It's about smells. Also maybe put out their bedding or your clothing. PUT OUT SMELLY FOOD like sardines, tuna, canned cat food. Some have put it in a garage with the door part way open, or they even left the window open and food near the sill. Also LEAVE YOUR GARAGE DOOR OPEN a foot. Some cats have come home and been found meowing in their garage in the middle of the night! Post on the Next Door website or app as well to let people in your neighborhood know. Additionally, post on Craigslist, and the HelpingLostPets page and also the Pawboost Facebook page. A free flyer can be made on Pawboost and also on HelpingLostPets. And definitely contact authorities. If you have created the free flyer, you can email or leave a printout with them. Please check the pound every couple days.
