Totoro was last seen at 6 am Wednesday 9/2 when my daughter left for work. He never misses a meal, he is a big guy, and missed his 9 am breakfast. I called and called for him and looked and couldn't find him, it was raining so I figured he was sheltering under our deck. Now its been 24 hours and weve searched all surrounding areas. He has only gotten out like this once a few years ago and was found up a tree. He is skittish but will come to his name for anyone. I'm worried he is trapped in someone's shed or up a tree, so please keep an eye out.

Check all trees (they are known to climb very high up, even 75+ feet), the crawlspace (if applicable), bushes with a flashlight, all cupboards/cabinets/closets, under/in all furniture (including mattress box springs), garage, sheds, & washer/dryer. Only if 100% sure escaped & doesn't compromise the safety of other pets: Keep the door your kitty went out of cracked open with a bag of treats nearby to shake to coax in & call name softly/gently. If you haven't already, borrow a humane trap from a shelter ASAP & place an article of clothing that smells like you/your kitty by the door. Post neon colored signs within a few blocks, as well as notify vets/shelters/microchip company. Do NOT put kitty's litter box outside, as that can actually attract predators/keep your kitty from coming home. Most kitties are found within 5 houses from their home, especially during early morning hours (2-5am)/dawn/dusk. Check with all neighbors (Ring cameras/garages/sheds/etc.). Thank you for bumping and for all of the great suggestions on how to find him. I am still searching, not giving up. He is my soul cat, a member of our family, and we will do everything I can to find him. He disappeared from our front yard; he got out in a very small window of time. Since it's been 12 days now, he could have gone further than our area and not know how to get back. Surrounding areas are picnic point, lake serene, and norma beach road.
