She is really friendly but looks hungry and confused. I can’t bring her inside due to my own cat. I would like to help.

Glad you want to help. Your initial goal is to handle the basic food & water and shelter to keep her close and not wander off. Then you’ll want to see if you can handle her to get her into a carrier and to a vet or shelter for a free microchip check that may identify her owner. Call ahead. If handling is out of the question you can buy (or rent from some rescues or shelters or vets) a humane trap. Bait it with smelly food. Steady monitoring or a camera is needed so she won’t feel vulnerable stuck outside in a trap where she cannot dodge dangers or bad weather. If you put her up before the chip check, it’s ok, a spare room, bathroom or garage can work in a pinch. If your household is like mine, you may find her submissive to your house cat. Outdoor cats are conscious of territory. We’ve brought in two ferals (not strays, true ferals, no human contact) and they fell right in line and looked up to the elder cats. Learned the litterbox in a few hours by the example they saw. You just never know. But you’re going to find this baby’s family, or find her a way to a good home. You got this. A cat this friendly had or has a home, and probably can’t wait to feel safe inside.
