Message from Owner

Benny escaped while I was bringing his cage back inside from enjoying the sunshine. The cage gate door unexpectedly hit the door frame, unlocking the gate and he flew away right to the only tall tree in my apmts backyard. This happened at 3:15pm. I kept eyes on him until 7p when I no longer could see him. It rained and there was lightning last night which I'm sure terrified him even more :-( If you see him please approach VERY slowly and just sit next to him quietly to keep him company and call! (My phone #) Or (My boyfriend's phone #)

Rachel Cooper Lullio thank you Rachel, yes I've been doing all of that and have a battery operated nightlight shining down on his cage outside with the shirt I wore all day today for a familiar scent. I unfortunately cannot watch it constantly, as I live in the basement apartment and don't have a window facing the backyard but I do go out every half hour during the day to check and sit outside with my other parakeet in his little backpack to help lure him in

Posted on Lost and Found birds of the US https://m.facebook.com/groups/637611853061306/permalink/3599871760168619/?mibextid=Nif5oz To Benny's owner: We are so sorry to hear your bird is missing. Here are some ideas to assist in your search. *Create a post on Pawboost, NextDoor & Ring, if you haven’t already. *During the daytime: use a wireless Bluetooth speaker to broadcast flock calls or your voice, shake treat bags or anything that might attract attention to food, put the cage out where it can be seen. *During the evening when searching is over, design & print off flyers with photo & contact information. These can be encased in a ziplock to keep weatherproof & posted in areas where allowed like parks, poles & any nearby gathering areas. Also drop off some at vet clinics, pet supply stores, anything within a 5 mile radius. Contact local shelters/rescues & even the police dept - they do pick up found/stray pets all the time. Make sure the world knows - neighbors esp ones that have bird feeders/baths/pools. Hand them out while searching the area. Join every local social media group there is. Run an ad in your local newspaper - some run one for free in lost & found (or cheap). Also check with local bird watcher groups - they’re always out & about. Flyers cannot be placed in mailboxes. *PLEASE CHECK WITH LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS & FILE A MISSING PET REPORT*

Do everything in this lost bird video, you can copy and paste it into the browser here on Facebook or on YouTube to watch. Also, people say to put the cage outside with food and water in it but to watch it constantly, and if you have a recording of your voice, play it
