If you find an animal, whether it has a collar on or not, please take the time to find out if this animal belongs to someone. Not all animals without collars are strays. Take the animal to a vet or another facility that has a chip scanner. Some local police departments have them. You don’t know the circumstances as to how or why that animal escaped. You don’t know how long that animal has been wandering. Don’t pass judgment. There are too many people who think they know it all, and they don’t. Share the information via social media. Turn it over to an animal rescue facility which can help find its owner. Please don’t think that you are entitled to keep an animal just because you found it.

How do you know it was lost? It had a collar on. That is legal. A cat with a collar on can belong to someone. It is personal property and can be outside/inside cat. You could be prosecuted for containing it.
