Please report your kitty as lost to OC Animal Shelter in case someone turns him into them. Also post him on Nextdoor & on Huntington Beach Lost and Found Pets Community Group on Facebook. Indoor cats are usually close to home within 3 houses away. After checking all possible hiding places in your home, hang clothes with your scent out. Scent only - no food or litter box. Ask your nearby neighbors to look in their yards, bushes, garages and outdoor cameras to see if he is there. Post fliers with the cat’s pic and your contact information on it around the area he is missing so if he is spotted, the person can tell you his location. Keep an access point open for him to slip back in your home. Look in bushes or hiding spots around your home as if this cat is unfamiliar with being outdoors, he is most probably scared of all the new sounds and smells and will make himself safe by finding a hiding spot. Sometimes the best time to find your cat is when the noise level is low - after hours - or early morning hours. Take a flashlight and look for the shining eyes. I also recommend playing a YouTube video on your phone of meowing cats turned up full blast right outside of your home, as cats are drawn to hearing other cats nearby. ***POST NEXTDOOR, RING NEIGHBORHOOD, PET FBI, PETCO LOVE LOST, PAWBOOST, PAW GUIDE APP Check ✔️ Humane Society, Animal Shelters In-Person DAILY. Some Keep Pets 5 Days then put up for Adoption. Boots on the ground - Walk ur neighborhood 2X DAILY, DAY & NIGHT, CHECK BUSHES 1st!!! Check window wells, under decks, sheds, garages, behind AC units, dumpsters, under staircases, under BBQ covers, behind firewood. Indoor Cats don't go far, usually close by. Others hide during the day and roam @ night when it's quiet. Shake bag of cat food or treats, walking, calling by name, saying are u hungry, Bring a flashlight, search day & night. Knock on neighbor's doors. Post Flyer's on neighbor's doors

Time is of the essence. Cats don’t go far from home. Don’t wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Leave the door/window the kitty exited from open 24/7. If unable, then crack garage door open 24/7 enough to get in. Hang worn clothes and/or your pillow case in a tree or on top of shrubs to create a scent trail. Knock on neighbors doors ASAP with a picture asking them to keep an eye out. See if they can check Ring cameras for any sighting. Post signs with kitty’s picture as many as possible, include surrounding neighborhoods. Go out late at night with a flashlight, shaking a bag of food, calling kitty’s name, looking under shrubs for their shining eyes. Post on Ring, Nextdoor and check shelters. Don’t give up. 💕

Talk softly when calling late night and during the night to early morning when it quite out .. Might wait in between to see if you hear them meow nearby .... For indoor cats if there is any way you could leave your door garage door or window slightly ajar if possible they know where they got out and will often come back in on their own .. If you didn't see them get out check deep dresser drawers, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, under beds in box springs, behind the frig, the stove, behind or under the sofa, under or in the recliner the washer/dryer or inside if left open .. basement crawl space .. attic .. anywhere small or behind a cat can hide they will! If out cats will hide during the day and are more active late evening near dark to early morning , daybreak ... have a spot light to shine to see eyes in the dark .. they are usually close by and will often come back to the door .. or hide under bushes or decks to feel safe ! Also check crawl spaces under houses , garages, sheds of neighbors nearby ...No food out after dark it will attract area strays and wildlife to the area ... check culvert pipes .. storm drains .. up trees .. and colder weather they will get under car hoods for warmth and on tires also ...this can happen and they could be miles from home . Cats in a new home need at least 30 days to adjust to a new area and may and will travel to get back to their old home .. In some cases a set trap may be needed and monitored! A Trail cam or night vision goggles can help to monitor the areas outside! Post to Nextdoor Ask neighbors to check their Ring Doorbells... Beware of loose and roaming dogs in the area as they will chase and your cats! For automatic garage doors please place a 6x6 block or cinder block so that the door will not come all the way down and trap your pet as they can be injured! Check with area Shelters, Animal Control, and Vets offices also put flyers ... Am sure you have tried most all of these! Don't give up!!

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO CAT BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.
