Check any animal shelters near you. Your cat may have been picked up by AC or taken there by someone trying to get it out of the cold.

Try these tips: Indoor cats that get outside usually stay close but they will hide b/c they get scared of the new sounds and textures outside. Check all hiding places (under decks/porches, sheds, bushes, parked cars, up in trees, in storm drains or other exposed pipes). Ask your neighbors to check those areas of their yards and to open their sheds/garages in case the cat went in unseen and got locked in. Post flyers in your neighborhood b/c not everyone uses fb or knows about these lost/found pet sites. File a report with your local shelter and give them a picture so if someone brings in your cat they will be able to more quickly reunite you. Go in person and ask to see all the cats. Do not rely on staff to visualize your cat the same way you do. Do not rely strictly on pictures posted on their website in case the site is not up-to-date or not all-inclusive. Cats will come out at night to search for food so put a dish of smelly cat food outside near the door the cat most likely went out. You can also try going out at night with a flashlight to see if you can get the reflection of the light in its eyes. Shared and prayingFollow these tips...they work

Cats have a keen sense of smell so put his favorite food, used litter box, and any pieces of well worn clothing with your and his scent on it outside and that may help attract him home. (Some sites say they are most active and therefore most likely to come home between dawn and dusk. You might want to be especially on the lookout then and leave a window open so you can hear him meow.) Also if you think he likes tuna, walk around the neighborhood with an open can clinking it with a spoon while you call his name. (This worked with one of our family cats not long ago.) Indoor cats who find themselves outside can revert to almost feral behavior and may be frightened and hiding. So ask your neighbors to check their crawl spaces, garages and shed areas while you do the same. Call the Humane Society to ask about how to use an humane trap and see if they'll loan you one. And put up detailed photo flyers EVERYWHERE, including shelters, vet offices and stores. Check the shelters in person frequently because the way you describe him might not be the same way they would. Try not to be too discouraged or give up. A cat missing three months in Reston was recently returned after her flyer was seen at a Giant grocery store by someone who had been feeding her. (Friends who started a volunteer cat rescue say it's the flyers that most often gets them home. They even found a cat who had been missing six months.)
