Below are ideas to find your indoor or outdoor cat. If you haven't already... Indoor cats often stay close to home. Try shaking their favourite treat bag and use a flash light at night to see if you see any eyes flashing. Check under steps, sheds, the car and all around your property even trees. Don’t call their name unless they have been out for just a few moments as they are in ‘fear mode’ and this can make them hide more. Outdoor cats and Indoor cats… check sheds as he she could have gotten locked in. Check up trees. Then go door to door if you can and ask if anyone has seen him her. Put up posters and send out flyers. Leave porch door open or window if they escaped from a window. Post on a lost and found pet and cat sites in your area and province. As well as your local community Facebook page. Check and tell you have lost your cat to vets, shelters, rescues, Animal Control, 311 (if you are in Halifax, Nova Scotia) and then check Kijiji. Leave your scent out on the clothes line (unwashed clothing) or on the steps and change every day or at least after a rain. Don’t put their scent out as predators are likely to come… Don't leave kitty’s litter out as this will attract predators and kitty might be too scared to come back. If that doesn’t work… ask a local rescue or shelter to help you humane trap your cat. Put out out the trap with wet food, water and a tarp to cover it. In the colder months a blanket over the cage as well and tarp over that. Put a piece of owner’s scent in the cat like a sock which has not been washed. This attracts your cat and usually keeps other cats and animals away. Always check trap often as animals can get hypothermia in the cold and hyperthermia in the summer. Usually early morning and night is when they go on the trap but many also will be trapped in the middle of the day. Hope you find your cat soon!

Tips - Borrowed from another: These tips have been proven time and time again to work, please take the time to do them, it all helps! And it's important to do them as soon as possible. Good luck! (Admin) 🗞 POSTERS/FLIERS HAVE PROVEN TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND YOU NEED TO START ASAP GOING DOOR TO DOOR AND HANDING THEM OUT! ***POSTERS, POSTERS, POSTERS ARE KEY!!!***** 🗣Go talk to your neighbors and surrounding areas and hand out posters. Talk to people on the street. You will be surprised at how helpful they will be! If no one is home, put the poster in the mailbox. Put posters on poles, vet offices, corner stores, grocery stores, etc. And check around restaurants and such where there may be a food source. 👚🍗Put a piece of clothing or blanket with the scent of the person he likes most with some food and water outside in a sheltered area. It is advised by experts to not use litterboxes any more as the scent also attracts predators and other cats which can actually keep your cat from returning. 🗣It is best to call for kitty late at night or early morning as they will usually hide during the day. 🔦Search low to the ground and under every nook and cranny or hole that a cat can climb in or get under. Chances are, your kitty may still be very close, they usually will not travel very far. Get a good bright flashlight! 🆘️ Ask your neighbors to check their sheds, baby barns and garages as soon as possible as kitty may have been locked inside. 🚪🪟Cats are very territorial, if possible, leave a window or door open. Many have returned and ran back in the house on their own. ☎️ Call your local vets to see if a cat matching this description has been brought in there & call the local SPCA and better yet, bring a picture in to those places. 🆘️Ask around for any "CAT PEOPLE" in your area...they know and see all concerning kitties! 🦞 If there are lobster traps in the area, please check them. There has been numerous cats trapped in those recently! ❤️🐾❤️Most importantly, DO NOT GIVE UP!!! THEY NEED YOU!!! ❤️🐾❤️ Some of these tips will help you find your indoor/outdoor kitty too 🙏🏻 I believe the SPCA rents live traps…

I don’t mean to be mean or cruel sounding, but people must be aware that coyotes have been sited in Bedford. My cats are indoor cat for that reason… predators. Please everyone keep your cats inside. I know it is a hard thing to train an indoor/ outdoor cat to stay inside. I will repost your missing baby and I pray you find him safe. ♥️🙏♥️

Put clothes with your scent outside, like dirty socks, and change them every day. Knock on every door in your neighborhood. Check sheds, garages and outbuildings. Don’t stop looking for her-walk around especially at dusk and at night and early morning. If she’s an outdoor cat she could be farther away Put up posters in your neighbourhood

If this is an indoor only cat that never goes out, look close. Indoor only cats when lost get scared and hide because it is unknown territory and usually do not come out when you call. Usually are within 3 or 4 houses . Put out something with your scent such as a piece of clothing or blanket. Call at dusk, dawn and night and shake the treats. Get in your neighbour's yards and look under decks, sheds, in trees, bushes, in garages, under vehicles and hood or anywhere they can hide. Put up lots of posters. If you are searching at night, use a flashlight as their eyes glow in the dark. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=388310901737884
