We trust that they will be safe with you. Don't presume that an online posting is going to produce an owner. But, it is a good way for total strangers to pick up someone's pet. And, they might not be good people. Never give an animal away to a total stranger. The dog/cat is not yours to keep or give away. It’s also illegal to keep someone else’s pet. Call the City Shelter. The city shelter will screen an animals health and a veterinarian will correct as needed. The shelter will ask for proof of ownership before releasing an animal to someone. People will look at the shelter to see if their pet was picked up. If an owner can't be located the animal is then prepped for adoption. Should you wish to adopt them later the shelter will assist in a legal adoption. Call the City Animal Shelter Dispatcher 581-3271 to have an animal picked up from you. Animal Control Officers are available 24/7. Again, people look at the shelter to see if their pet was picked up. ... Tell those that respond to your post that the dog/cat was transferred to the Animal Shelter. ... The shelter is closed on Sunday and Monday for walk-ins should you want to bring an animal to the shelter that you found. Call the Shelter and a Control Officer will come to you.
