Lost indoor cats don't go far, they are CLOSE. They go into survival mode and hide, typically within a couple/few houses. Think like a cat, check bushes, neighbors garages, under cars etc. They tend to come out when they get hungry enough or dusk & dawn. A flashlight will show their eyes at night so you can see where cats are that otherwise you wouldn't see hiding during the day. Get a baby monitor with motion detector and set it where kitty got out. Take a shirt or anything with a familiar scent, cut it into long strips that you can tie in a few areas around your property, particularly where they got out. Make sure to lay a blanket or something with a familiar scent right where they escaped & put food there too. You want the food to be easy & obvious to find. This helps kitty know their territory which gives them confidence and keeps them from wandering. That food source is IMPERATIVE. You want to watch the area, specifically at night. If you can stay up all night where they escaped to keep watch, this is ideal. If that isn't an option, a baby camera w/motion sensor is great. Leave the window or door open where they got out just incase they come while your sleeping. Make sure there is a clear and open path they can easily identify to get back in. If you go searching for them stay calm, they will hear the stress in your voice & that will scare them further. Do NOT put a litter box outside I see some put this, not a good idea! There is a reason cats hide their litter, this will deter them and attract predators. Don't give up, they're close, you just have to find them! Also with the cold coming I would put a box with straw or buy one of those outdoor cat homes that are insulated, it's going to get brutal out here this week. Good luck 🙏❤️🙏 **Call the shelters every 2 or 3 days, this is important, their holding times are short otherwise they could get put down or put up for adoption, keep calling every few days. Get them a colored photo if you can. https://www.google.com/amp/s/tractive.com/blog/en/safety/missing-cat-what-to-do/amp
