Message from Owner

On Friday morning while he and one of other cats were supposed to receive their rabies shots, despite my repeated requests to use care due to his fearfulness in unfamiliar situations, Little Steven escaped out a window in the vet exam room. It has been a true nightmare. He ran toward the woods behind the clinic, which is on a high speed part of Route 1, and he has not been spotted. We have six traps set, are checking them frequently, and are following all the professional recommendations and protocols, including setting up trail cams soon. We have done all the reading available and have posted and emailed all the relevant sources. The neighbors of the clinic have been notified. Stevie was the first feral who showed up at our property, and I worked incredibly hard to show him that he was safe and loved. That work changed both of us, and he became my personal soul cat. He is deeply loving, bonded to his brother ferals who came after him, and is also profoundly fearful and motivated by panic in new situations.

Why did the vet office not have the room properly secured so he couldn't escape??!!!

Even though it was at the vet office get something with your own scent and put it at that vet office it's a Sunday what a good day to do it and then camp out in their parking lot and go between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. with a flashlight calling and looking for your kitty if it ran to the woods it's still right there hiding real close by they don't usually go too far especially if they are fixed but you would have to be in the place that you lost the kitty he would not know his way home so you would have to stay at that vet or not overnight hours that is the best time to ever get a cat if you have any hopes of getting your kitty back especially when they're not close to home you must use something with your scent to draw them there and then you'll be out there with a flashlight so they can hear your voice they are more likely to come to the owner than to anybody else

I saved a ferral cat and found it a loving home. The cat got out and it was miles away from my house. The cat found my house a week later. Don't give up.
