TIPS TO HELP FIND LOST PET: ✅Place his/her bedding, your shoes, a piece of your unwashed clothing (such as a sweatshirt, blanket, pillowcases) and food/water outside *if there is coyotes in the area bring the food in at night*. 🚫Do not put litter box outside. Putting the litter box outside can attract predators and other cats which might keep your cat from returning home🚫 *Putting out the other items listed above, are scents only your cat will recognize* ‼️ They might be nearby and can’t figure out how to get inside ***IF you have a garage or door/sliding door that can be left open*** Leave the garage/ or door cracked for them and place the shoes, bedding, and unwashed clothing in the garage‼️ ‼️Setting a trap on your porch, in garage or backyard is also a good idea. Many cats go into survival mode when out of their element and scared and may not come to you on their own. Most skittish cats will hunker down and stay nearby so a trap is very helpful as well. ✅Walk around the area calling them calmly early morning and late evening when it’s quiet & shake a bag of treats(if they like treats), or can of tuna etc. ✅If he/she is microchipped contact the microchip company to report him/her lost and make sure your contact info is up to date. ✅Hang flyers (use a bright color board or paper) with picture in your neighborhood, surrounding areas, local shopping centers, businesses, vet's offices, groomers, etc. within a five mile radius from your home. ✅Go door to door with the flyers as well and try to speak with people when handing out flyers. ✅Make a sign with his/her picture and put it in your front yard stating he/she is missing. ✅File a lost report with the shelters in your area and surrounding area shelters ✅If checking shelters in person, ask to see the animals in isolation too. ✅Check shelter websites daily (as it is updated hourly) ✅Check shelter found reports for found postings but not at the shelter. ✅Take a flyer to the shelters. ✅File online with petharbor, pawboost ✅Post on area lost and found pet and community Facebook pages, area shelter Facebook pages, Nextdoor, newspapers and Craigslist under "pets" and "Lost and Found"

General Information: Hang clothes with your scent on it high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely.
