Orange and white cat. Very large (fat).

Message from Owner

He's very friendly to people especially if you feed him. But he can also be temperamental and will let you know when to stop touching him. He's my 15 year old daughter's cat. He went missing the night we had to put our dog down.

I’m so sorry about your dog, I missed that part earlier. Check all the local shelters, send them this picture. Check everywhere inside: CAT HIDING INDOORS Cats can hide for days indoors. Owners tell me their cat wouldn’t be inside because they will come out to eat - One was located in a basement crawl space after 10 days! Here are some indoor places cats have been found you may not have thought of looking: In closets, take everything out, they can hide very well. If you have ducts/pipes running from floor to ceiling, notice any openings where the cat could crawl in to the floor/ceiling or even inside the duct. Under your upholstered furniture if there are any tears or openings along the seam, cats can climb in. Same on mattresses and box springs. Look inside your recliner if you have one. Found one hiding inside a mattress on someone’s porch once! Look in ALL draws; had someone find their cat hiding for 3-4 days in the dresser, no idea how it got there. In back of, underneath and INSIDE all appliances, fridge, stove, dishwasher. Someone had one hiding in their bottom draw on stove. Washer/dryer - Look in your dryer vent. Inside kitchen cabinets, any openings, holes inside. Had one found inside a cabinet but got underneath the bottom of it. If you have any openings in basement walls. Found one under plywood floor in a basement. Another under the floor in basement where the toilet was raised higher. China cabinet, inside, on top; bookshelves. Sitting on a chair tucked into the table. If you have suspended tile ceilings, had one inside a ceiling one time. If you have slot of stuff in your basement or stairs to your attic you need to actually move things and search in boxes. Etc. If cat has access to basement or attic, put tunafish and catnip out and notice if any is eaten. You can sprinkle a little bit of catnip but make a neat little circle, about the diameter of a half dollar, so you can notice if it has been touched. Cats will usually roll around on it, and it will become scattered.

Here are some suggestions to help find your baby: Indoor cats are in survival mode and are frightened. They will hide……and hide very well so PLEASE check everywhere often…especially at night. Report it to ANIMAL CONTROL as well as Vets and SHELTERS with a picture in case they are brought in injured or for a chip check. Include Groomers and Pet Stores Put up lots and lots of FLYERS!!! Give to neighbors, attach to mailboxes, put up at stores, library, grocery stores everywhere! Give to your postal carrier as they see animals all the time! Sit outside and read a book out loud, the sound of your voice can lure him/her back if he’s close by. Drag his/her bedding around the area of your home. Please create a free account at petfbi.org/report.html This account will send out an alert that s/he is missing, and send you an alert if anyone were to report a cat found near that location. That account could help get your cat back home too. Put on Facebook lost pets page in your town/state etc..and on your local town page!! Check trees, under, in and behind things in your yard and others often. Make your neighbors aware. Please check yours and neighbor’s garages, sheds, porches, barns, basements and under and in vehicles, Cats like to come out @ night so leave A LIGHT ON THE PORCH WITH FOOD and IT'S BEDDING near a CRACKED OPENED DOOR OR WINDOW FOR ENTRY.... NEVER put out litter boxes as it could be used by another cat which could DETER return or attract predators. Use a camera or baby monitor to watch for his /her return, using a havaheart trap with tuna to catch them as well as an unlaundered piece of your laundry. If u put food out be very careful and monitor very closely as it can attract predators. You can borrow a trap from animal control or cat rescue. The ACO or a rescue can help u on how to trap a cat. U must never leave trap unattended. If there are sightings set up a feeding station and camera at sighting area, then when he is spotted on camera you can trap him. It can be helpful to use a flashlight at night to spot its eyes! Look around shrubs, under cars, decks, porches, in garages, sheds, up in trees, in yours and neighbor’s yards. Calling for it several times a day and shaking treats, indoor cats can become disoriented. Calling out helps in RECOGNIZING YOUR VOICE AND DIRECTION! Your cat is in survival mode and may not act as they usually did, he is afraid. Please DO NOT give up! Continue to check & recheck EVERYWHERE. Monitor Facebook, Craigslist and Nextdoor sites for found cats. Cats have been found several years after. Don’t give up, keep the faith and keep looking!!! Put cameras outside, leave door open at night, and contact a cat rescue or www.wanderingpawsk9.com a reputable pet tracker to help you. LOST CAT OUTDOORS Catnip and your scent outside ASAP! - You need to search personally as neighbors won’t search as thoroughly as you would. Bring catnip, treats and a flashlight, even in daylight, it’s very dark under porches etc. Ask to go in yards, not only beside you but in back, on the next street behind you and across your street and on the next street behind them. I found my neighbors cat in the very yard next door to his own house. Although the owner had been calling and walking around the blocks calling, he stayed hunkered down in a dense garden when I found him too afraid to come out. You need to get down and dirty and search under everything. YOU MUST BE CONSISTENT & DILIGENT - Sprinkle LOTS of catnip by entrance and stairs s/he went out. Down to sidewalk. Be generous. DON’T PUT CAT LITTER OUTSIDE. I DON’T RECOMMEND PUTTING FOOD OUTSIDE UNLESS YOU CAN OBSERVE CLOSELY! - If you have predators, such as coyotes, only put food outside when you can actually watch. Dont leave it out overnight or unattended. Raccoons and skunks are pretty harmless but you probably don’t want to attract them. - if you can sit there watching: Put a scoop of real tunafish or rotisserie chicken (not catfood) in a dish, and put it be the door. Preferably, if you can do so safely, leave the door open slightly and place the food dish inside. Or in a nearby window you can leave open enough for cat to climb back inside. If this is not possible, try to shelter it near where cat went out if you have a porch or something. - Hang UNLAUNDERED (not cleaned) pieces of your clothing, like the shirt you wore today, dirty socks, slippers, or the pjs you worn last night, around shrubs, railings - the scent will drift. Also inside for cat to snuggle up on and for your scent. -Use a flashlight (even in daylight) to search under schrubs, porches (bend down and look way under with the light in the dark corners) sheds, under grills, pool decks, garages, basement windows, under cars, up in trees. -Ask your neighbors if you can go into their yards and search too. They may not search as thoroughly as you would. At night, the eyes will glow. -Knock on doors, talk to people face to face, showing them a picture, tell them where you live. This goes a long way. Ask people that walk your neighborhood, dog walkers, postman/woman. - [ ] -Put flyers on telephone poles. Be sure to weatherproof them, You can get sheet protectors (these are plastic sleeves like yiu would find in a photo album, that fit a regular size piece of paper 8 1/2” x 11”) at the dollar store.
