Put its towels outside on a hanger on the porch,the front yard,on a windowsill, a deck, put its owner's worn clothes outside on a clothing line, on a hanger and put it on a deck,the porch, the scent will travel and help guide the cat back home

Ask neighbors to check their sheds garages and bats,they get trapped in them sometimes, ask to search their yard, under the shed, under the house,use a flashlight and use the light to catch the eye shine or reflective glow of the cat's eyes. Do nighttime searches for your cat with a flashlight and a bag of cat treats look under vehicles,in their wheel wells, under porches and decks,under,or behind stairs, in bushes and shrubbery,up trees,up poles, on fences,at their base on the ground, in between and behind,under buildings, shine the light on rooftops,on upper level decks, on fire escapes,on windowsills,use the light to expose the eye shine,or glow of the cat's eyes. Calmly call the cat's name,then shake the treat bag, please repeat these actions throughout the neighborhood where the cat is lost every night after sunset,then again late night to right before dawn 10,11 pm- 4 am Give flyers to neighbors, postal workers, delivery people,dog walkers j,oggers, daily walkers

Check every vehicle under any stationary platform's or storage and check in garages porches sheds with the storms he might have crawled in a small place or got locked in check even stationary cars cats can find ways into them and become trapped.

Cats usally stay within 200 feet of the scent of thier home. Your cat maybe close by. (But if the cat is not spayed or neutered they can roam farther while in heat looking for a mate).or if someone has picked them up. Put out a pile of unwashed clothes on your porch. Cats can smell up to 2 miles. Do NOT put the cat’s litter box out on the porch as that attracts other cats and can scare your cat away. Put a safe trap there too. Line it with a towel or shirt with the scent from inside the house. If you don’t have a trap, borrow one. Local spca can lend them out. If you trap a cat that is not yours, just release it. Or check and make sure it is not someone else's lost pet. Notify all vets, shelters and spca and give them a picture. Make flyers with your contact info and picture and give to EVERY house within 1/4 mile. Ask neighbors to check their sheds, garages, etc. in case the cat accidentally got locked inside. Go outside and hunt under EVERYTHING, both during the day and at dusk with a flashlight softly calling your cats name and shaking a bag of treats. Look everywhere - under bushes, cars, porches, sheds…..this means neighbor's stuff too. Sometimes if you sit on your porch or outside in the yard and quietly talk to your cat, as if he or she were there, they will come out of hiding and come up to you. If they do, stay calm and don’t try to grab the cat. Wait until they get close and let the cat come to you. When the cat lets you pet them then you can attempt to pick it up.

Don't put her litter box outside that will invite other cats and predators which will muddle her scent. I've had some experience with this and actually read an articlethat said that the safer way is to put out something with your scent you are her safe place your scent will carry on the air.or her blanket you can change it if you think it has lost its scent

Ask the delivery drivers and mail personnel to keep am eye out check the shelter make sure they are aware of him so if he gets brought in they don't accidentally put him down chk shelters within a 2.5 to 5 mile radius yes he could get that far but if he was taken that's about how far someone usually travels away before dumping. If you had problems or if thier is a particular person in neighborhood who hates cats I'd keep eye out same goes for someone who shows to much attention not liking or thinking it's safe for him to be out . Keep the search fresh in people's minds and check with local vets if he was hit or someone yook him they may might take him in for medical care.

If you can put out something heavy with your scent he will smell it your scent travels further will be more familiar and is a comforting scent which should draw him back home. Put it in a safe but accessible place near the area he disappeared from or usually hangs out in. He will probably be near it hiding in not to long a time. I've read recently in several rescues that this technique works. And the scent will last even if it rains and you can change the item every couple days. Putting Flyers in mail boxes and local vets and businesses doesn't hurt. Ask delivery people and mail personnel if they would take a flyer and keep an eye out they are in neighborhood and might see him. Check shelters and vets let them know your looking and that way if he's brought in they are aware he's lost . Good luck don't be afraid to call every couple of days. If you see him do not run after him he might be scared call to him let him know it's you carry his favorite toy treat or blanket to help reassure him.
