Message from Owner

🐾 PLEASE HELP ME BRING MY LIZZY HOME 🐾 MISSING SINCE JUNE 2026 — BOSTIC, NC 💔 I have not given up on my girl. Please, if you have seen her or know anything about her, I am begging you to reach out. Her name is Lizzy. She is about 5 years old, a Chihuahua/Pekingese mix, and she is black with a white patch on her chest. She has a very sweet personality and is so very loved. Lizzy went missing near Sammy’s in Bostic, NC, back in June 2026. I was visiting my mother-in-law when she disappeared, and I have been missing her every single day since. Lizzy isn’t “just a dog.” She is my fur baby. She is family. ❤️ I got her as an early birthday present from my husband, and she became such a special part of our lives. I still find myself looking for her and wondering where she is, if someone has taken her in, if someone has seen her, or if she is waiting for us to find her. If you have ANY information about Lizzy even if you’re not 100% sure it’s her please message me. Please don’t assume somebody else has already reported a sighting. One little piece of information could be what finally brings my baby home. 🙏 PLEASE SHARE THIS. Please share her pictures in Bostic, Rutherford County, surrounding communities, and anywhere nearby. Maybe someone has seen her and doesn’t know that her family is still desperately looking for her. Lizzy, Mommy loves you. I haven’t forgotten you, and I haven’t stopped hoping. We are still looking for you. Please come home, baby girl. ❤️🐾

I hope you find her as soon as possible. ❤️ it may help if you edit your original post to say things like “do not chase, approach, or call out” and “snap photo if possible and contact me with location and direction of travel immediately”. Dogs that are scared/lost often won’t recognize their owners when in that mindset and may not act at all like they do at home- even a super friendly and social dog can quickly go into fear/survival mode and run away from even the people they know. As soon as possible, the owners/guardians should place some items like unwashed laundry that smell strongly of their owners (clothes, socks, sheets) in the area last seen. Dogs in particular who get lost from an unfamiliar location almost always circle back to the place they got lost from, often at dusk or dawn when it’s quiet. Check the clothing/laundry spots at dusk and dawn, sometimes dogs are found laying on these items. Place the items in a place away from the road so the dog doesn’t move toward traffic. Keep in mind, the dogs won’t be using their noses when they are scared, and may not smell treats or recognize the scent or voice of their owners right away. If you are close, don’t move toward the dog. It’s best to sit or lay down and pretend to eat something delicious (smack lips, “mmmm yum yum”), loud crinkly chip or food bags help. Avoid eye contact, stay facing sideways, and avoid making movements toward them (if needed walk in general direction in an arch). If they move toward you, ignore them and then drop some food/treats! If you reach for them too soon, they may run off again. Be cautious offering a large reward for a scared dog on the run – it can hurt the dog’s chances of being safely recovered (people are more likely to call out and chase/follow the dog for a reward, which can cause the dog to run farther away or continue hiding). Eye-catching, clear flyers with the dog’s photo, your phone number in big font, and phrases like “scared- do not whistle at or chase” and “call/text immediately with location & direction of travel” can help prevent even well-meaning people from scaring the dog more (and accidentally setting the dog running blindly into the road/traffic). You can take a few flyers and then walk the neighborhood, knock on doors and ask people to take a picture of the flyer – that way they have his photo and your number on hand, and you don’t have to print a ton of flyers. For an older dog, I think it would be prudent to ask people to check under sheds, in any window wells, any holes or anything she could’ve fallen into or be hiding under. And then stop at all nearby, gas stations, convenience and grocery stores, etc… anywhere that has a lot of locals traveling through. Ask if you can post up a flyer, preferably in a very visible place, such as facing inward & outward on the door or anywhere else they will allow. Near the gas pumps at gas stations would be great but not sure if any places would allow that. And of course follow up to remove the flyers when you find him 🙏🏼❤️ Additionally, you may want to consider reaching out to a a professional tracker. She may need to be tracked with cameras/scent trail and big trap set/safely monitored. It can make a huge difference, especially when dogs are in fear/survival mode. For reputable trackers be sure to search online/go directly to their websites for contact info, unfortunately have to watch out for scammers. Many legit ones give some free advice as well on their website an/or if you call. 🙏🏼❤️
