Check for microchip. Also see if flyers are posted in the area he/she was found. Search on Pawboost and LostmyDoggie to try to find the owner, and post on those sites also that you found this companion animal. Pawboost has a high rate of success in reuniting companion animal family members. Can you bring the dog inside to safety, food and water and then take to a vet to scan for chip? The vet may also recognize the dog and be able to contact its owners. Check with other local vets as well and contact the police. Also post fliers. Also your mail carrier may recognize them. And beware of bad actors!!!
