Message from Owner

Since April 27th, for work reasons, I have been staying month to month in a lake hse along with two adult cats. Purakaat is a mixed grey female feline who lives with Gambit, a charcoal grey tuxedo male cat. They are mostly indoor cats whom I have taken care of for over 12 years. At times when they do get to go outdoors, I am always nearby or closely with them. I never leave a property without both of them being fully secured inside. When the mornings started arriving with more daylight, they have had a routine for about a month of being let out and staying close to the rear deck early mornings before I have to leave for work. Once out for a certain period of time, they are always waiting and ready to go back inside. On early Tuesday morning, July 16th, not too long after I had let both cats out, I heard a loud cat shriek. I went to check on both of them and only saw Gambit pacing under and out from the deck. He took his time but wanted to come in right away. Shockingly, there was no sign of Purakaat or signs of any disturbance. I called out for her like I normally would and made familiar sounds of tapping a metal food can. Since making a number of on-ground searches, I have spoken to several neighbors and gotten a lot of advice from the neighbor across the street who also has two cats that go outside on a daily basis. The local animal control has been contacted and notices have been posted on local websites.

I'm so sorry about your kitty. Here are some tips that helped me find my little guy when he got out. My kitty got out in the middle of winter for 11 days. I put flyers out everywhere and some very nice friends of a friend of mine saw my flyers and said he was living under their outside stairs. Flyers work. Also I was told to go out at night when it's quiet and call your kitty calmly. They are scared when outside even if it's your voice they hear so shouting or calling loudly isn't recommended. Also using a flashlight while looking in garages and bushes helps. Cats eyes glow when a light beams on them. Shaking treat bags can help too. Don't do a litterbox that can attract dangerous animals that could hurt Kitty. You can do a piece of dirty laundry of yours that they can be attached too. One more thing also is to get a humane trap from a local shelter and put the smelliest food inside. Believe it or not KFC chicken has helped attract cats more than any food lol. Also cameras can help also to see if your baby comes around when you're not home. I wish you the best of luck and hope. 💜💜💜💜
