Get a humane trap asap. That’s the best way to get them back. You can get one from any hardware store or off amazon. Or ask a local cat rescue or shelter to lend you one. Be careful to monitor the trap well and check it often so other animals or people’s pets are not left to stress. Usually they are close by. In the meantime leave out food and water so he doesn’t go in search of it. Always water even when trapping. Ask neighbors to check under decks, in garages, sheds and crawl spaces. Post flyers and ask neighbors to check ring cameras and set up one as well. Try the open door trick. Secure other pets and leave the door open just a bit, so he can slip in quietly on his own, especially in the early morning hours. Leave a trail of food leading inside. But get that humane trap asap. 🙏❤️

shared and hoping and per advice from a trapper to be done at your own discretion (as not everyone agrees with this) put out the uncleaned litter box outside (THIS SHOULD BE A LAST RESORT as this can draw in strays) along with a piece of your clothing they say it helps them find their home and put up many flyers and check under stoops and bushes and garages and if possible and at night when it is quiet constantly call her/his name - this is how I found my cat under a car - hopefully some of this helps

First put out a big bowl of water IMMEDIATELY. Then, did you try the kitty litter trick? Take some litter from their box and sprinkle outside leading to your door then call them constantly especially at dawn and dusk and when it's quiet. Kitty will follow its scent and your voice home. It's no doubt scared and hiding. You can also try a stinky can of sardines! Or if kitty is a cuddler, try putting an article of your clothing by your door. Also check area garages, under car hoods, shelters, Nextdoor and Pawboost for found kitties in and near your zip. Don’t give up. And post flyers around your neighborhood. Good luck! And please keep your kitty inside if you let it out!! Between coyotes, diseases, bad actors and cars, there are so many ways harm can come to them. Finally, if your kitty isn’t fixed, please spay/neuter!
