General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO CAT BOX OR FOOD (as that attracts predators) . Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

You can post to Lost and Found Pets of Salem Oregon at: https://www.facebook.com/share/1K94NUUiTV/ Put up fliers right away. Put your pet's bed and a piece of your clothing from the dirty laundry where you last saw him/her so if your pet comes back they will smell it and stick around. You could also leave food and drink. When you get your pet back, you might want to consider getting an Apple Airtag to put on its collar so you can immediately see where they are. I got one from Amazon for my cat and it tracks her anywhere she goes. When it gets dark, take a flashlight around the area where you live and call them repeatedly, look in trees, bushes, under porches and decks, and alert the neighbors. If they like treats, take the treat can and shake it. After our cat went missing for 2 days, we found her in a tree at our neighbor's house. Big dogs were in the yard so she couldn't get down. Indoor cats usually stay within 3 to 5 houses around you.

If a cat is indoor/ outdoor or outdoor, they tend to return on their own. Sometime they have human friends you may not know about. My cat was feral and a collar, cooled her visits. My friends cat disappears when she has visitors, both animals and human. All cats can be scared overwhelmed and hiding. The good thing to know is that cat are nocturnal and stay close to home and most likely hiding in your yard. You best bet is to go out late at night midnight to dark morning is the best. Take a flashlight to look for his eyes glowing in the dark. Call softly while searching, because they are overwhelmed. Look in all the places little cats can hide. To name a few, look under sheds, porches, cars, and bushes. I like to tell about on person this summer fell asleep under the window her cat escaped from. She woke up to her cat crawling in her arms. Your cat is out there. Don’t give up.

Is he indoor or outdoor or indoor outdoor? Did he disappear from home? Do you know if he escaped from a door or window? If indoor have you searched your house thoroughly? I’m asking specicific questions for a reason.
