Julie Dieterly i just love when careless owners replied the text, that's how careless they are even with their pets. So damn lazy and cheap to do the right thing for them like microchip, and license them at the shelter, even though it's the law this kind of owners should not be allowed to have any dogs at all. Stop putting them through this living 😤 and stop taking them for granted 😤

Post to Nextdoor Check shelter website 24petconnect .com City of San Jose Animal Care & Services AND County of Santa Clara Animal Services in San Martin Help your pet smell their way home ~ take an unwashed article of the OWNER’S clothing (socks, sheet, underwear) and hang it in a tree, on a fence, a pole or edge of roof and put an article of unwashed clothing on the ground below. The wind will carry the scent. If there is another dog in the home take that dog's fresh poop and rub it on a rag and hang it high. Open your gates and/or the garage door, and turn on all the lights. Put a rug or towel on the porch with a bowl of water. Do not put the dog's bed or the dog's toys outside. The only scent we want is from the owners. Please do this ASAP. A dog can find its way back from miles by following a scent as they don't operate like humans on sight or sound. Put up flyers with large photo of your dog with legible phone number.

Which one of the two? Immediately place unwashed items of clothing with strong familiar scent outside your front door area and hanging from a tree to attract pup back home dogs can follow the scent from far away. Take the other dog out and walk the block, don't go far otherwise the lost dog will get confused following the scent. Ask neighbors to check security cameras footage perhaps something useful was caught on video. Post on Nexdoor and Ring for people not on FB. Report to shelter as lost and check in person. Hang flyers all over. Hope pup is found safe. If not found soon check with homeless people some like to keep stray dogs, others may help find.
