Message from Owner

My name is Pepper! I'm an indoor cat that happened to run outside when noone was watching. We have strays in the neighborhood that I ran scared from and I can't find my way back home. I am super affectionate but will run the first time you walk towards me. I love a jingle ball.

Hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While I have one IDENTICAL...I need you to listen to me !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive been in the same situation where 5-weeks later...I got my kitty back...and have successfully helped others. Odds are...your kitty is within AT MOST 50-YARDS away from where he was lost. Probably closer than that. Go to EACH neighbor in the area and provide them with your cats FAVORITE catfood...the brand it prefers the most. Though ANY food is helpful. Once it realizes it has DEPENDABLE food & water....it won't go ANYWHERE ELSE. You will begin to get MULTIPLE SIGHTINGS from that very small area. Ask those residents to take photos...even IF they cant entice your kitty, so that YOU have peace-of-mind to KNOW that your kitty has been SPOTTED. Good luck, and please keep us posted. 🙏💙💙💙

Wanted to share these tips to help find a lost pet. Another social media is Craigslist. Check and post under their community section of lost and found area. Their are some people like the elderly who choose not to be on facebook. Others are taking a break from facebook. Also any lost pets websites for your area. The ones we know of here in Central Iowa are: www.IowaPetAlert.com www.PawBoost.com AHeinz57 Missing Mutts (facebook) AHeinz57 Lost Cats (facebook) Lost Dogs Iowa (facebook) www.NextDoor.com Missing Pets (facebook) Put flyers around and let vet clinics around your area know. Go daily to your local shelters and check. Don't call your shelters. Here in Central Iowa our local HyVee grocery stores, Casey's gas stations,Tractor Supply and Ace Hardware have community bulletin boards for flyers. Those in smaller communities check with your Post Office if you can put a flyer up there as well. Be sure to alert your local mailman, delivery drivers, bus drivers and garbage collectors. They are in the neighborhood daily and may spot your pet. Call your local animal control to see if they have pick him/her up and which shelter they took him/her to. If you have a garage put his/her food, water, and a box (or live trap if you have one) with some of YOUR unwashed t-shirts with your scent on them in it for him/her. Note those who have lost a cat DO NOT put out the litter box as predators will pick up your cat scent and will stay close by waiting for your cat as their meal. Ask your neighbors to check their security cameras, garages, sheds and to look under their deck. If you or you know somebody that has a drone that can help assist you in finding your lost pet also. Our prayers for the family.

Pepper is definitely scared and hiding and you will need to go out later at night when it’s quiet, with a flashlight and look for his “glowing” eyes. He is VERY CLOSE to your house… most likely in YOUR OWN YARD. They usually find a hiding spot very quickly and very close to where they escaped. Look up in the trees and check under everything in YOUR YARD first… under decks, under sheds, inside bushes, wood piles and storm drains. Then check your neighbors yards. They are very good at hiding. THE BEST TIME TO FIND HIM IS AT NIGHT WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND HIS EYES WILL “GLOW” BACK AT YOU. Pepper is so scared, he will NOT respond to you calling him, so you'll have to use your eyes instead of your ears to find him. When cats are suddenly outside, they go into "survival mode" and their entire personality changes. They will NOT wander. They find a hiding spot very close by and are very scared and will not come out for anyone... even their owners. I hope you find your fur-baby very soon!

Use a fladhlight at night and shine around your house. Look for his eyes to reflect the light.
