Leave an open access like an attached garage cracked about 8 inches 24/7. If the cat is left alone they will attempt to get back in when it’s dark, especially early am.

Please file a missing cat report with the Virginia Beach animal control. If the cat is chipped make sure the registry has your current contact information. Check the shelter several times a week. Tonight after 10 PM, go out of your yard with a bag of kitty treats and a flashlight, call your cat softly, walking around the yard and shaking the kitty treats bag. Use the flashlight to look in the bushes to see if you can see your cat. Print flyers with your cats picture and your contact information and take around to your neighbors and ask them to call you if they see your cat. Also ask them if they’ve been in their shed outbuilding or garage since the cat went missing, cats go in those places to hide and when the door is closed, they cannot escape. You cannot hear cat crying to get out of a structure unless you’re standing right next to it. Check under porches, decks, and any structure with an open crawlspace.
