Please report to shelter. Please post on Nextdoor. com, and make a Pawboost. com post. Have scanned for microchip. Animals cannot be legally rehomed until required stray hold time is satisfied…your local shelter has required hold time information. This required hold time usually begins with reporting to Please check on Petfinder. com, petharbor. com, Petco. com, Craigslist. the shelter and pawboost posts. There are skilled and disguised individuals who troll public sites fror easy handovers for very nefarious purposes . Please require proof of ownership through photos, and vet records before releasing to anyone except the shelter. Reputable Rescue is first choice. Thank you for keeping this pup safe!!! Please be very careful when rehoming a pet. Review interested candidates’ profiles closely, as there are often signs a profile may not be genuine or safe. Especially on here. Free pets are frequently targeted for abuse, dog fighting, or resale. A serious and responsible adopter will be open to a screening process. Always ask for veterinary references, and charge an appropriate rehoming fee. Never free. Animals are valuable and should be treated as such. There are unethical people combing these pages daily. They are everywhere and they are good at what they do. Please be diligent and know the signs! Please reach out to rescue where possible

Always notify the County Animal Shelter that you found the dog and where and when you found the dog. Any vet will check for a chip free of charge. A found pet must be kept on stray hold for at least 72 hours and should not be rehomed until every possible option to find the owner had been tried. Also share to Lost and Found Dogs of North Carolina. Please require proof of ownership older than six months to ensure the real owner gets their pet back. Thank you very much for saving this one!!!
