***Poodle (Looks Like a Golden Doodle) Hit By A Car at Riverside Instantly Medically Deadlined for Saturday 9/19 by 5pm, they will him if no one helps him 🚨*** 📣Medical Emergency🚨Theo Needs Help NOW📣 🐾💛Neutered Theo came in Shock as a stray from Perris on 9/13 after getting hit by a car, no one reclaimed him yet. He entered the shelter with very bad injuries. He was on a local lost and found post and the post is heartbreaking to say the least. Must exit shelter by end of day sat 9/19*** severe medical, hit by car transferdas@rivco.Org 09/13/26 15:50 Total IV fluids infused today: 782 mL Rx: Simbadol 1.8 mg/mL: 0.5 mL IM x 5 days • 09/14/26 10:22 lateral recumbency - breathing heavily, labored breathing tick infestation P has difficulty standing up , cannot walk Dx) RAD reviewed) severe pleural effusion, on the left side especially hip and both femurs NSF 4dx inhouse ; positive for anaplasma Tx) diazepam 5mg/ml : 2ml IV US guided thoracocentesis : pleural effusion moves around and it actually accumulate more on the right side when chest is tilted. long 18G IV catheter - 136ml of unclotted blood obtained from right ventral chest r/o trauma, tumor, tick born disease etc *post-thoracocentesis RAD was not taken due to P's breathing (improved after thoracocentesis but still fast and shallow) bravecto topically flumazenil 0.2mg/ml : 0.1ml IV • 09/14/26 11:26 Rx) Doxycycyline 100mg : 3 tabs PO SID for 21 days • 09/14/26 11:20 Administered first dose of doxy tx per Dr. instruction. Plan) contact rescue - P will need further dx and tx accordingly monitor P's breathing and recheck pleural effusion with US tomorrow if possible or chest RAD if P is stable enough consider RAD pelvis + hind limbs if P cannot stand up tomorrow AM - but only if P's breathing is stable enough. no hurry. • 09/14/26 08:57 P is QAR. Still in lateral recumbency. P managed to urinate in kennel. No defecation. P didn't E or D overnight food and water. No signs of V or D. Per Dr. x-rays on whole body WTP • 09/14/26 16:18 Capped IVC for the night. Total IVF = 683.45 ml • 09/15/26 09:42 QAR, pt ate 1/4 of food bowl. No vomit. Urine all over kennel - no feces. Pt is just lateral, not interested in food this morning. Rads need to be taken when stable and if time permits. • 09/15/26 12:29 patient is panting at this time. Still has not eaten food - not interested when placed close to face. No stool in kennel. • 09/15/26 18:31 HUB of ace given for comfort very stressed. • 09/16/26 08:53 Pt did not edud overnight. Food appears untouched. Pt received pain management. Turned pt over on L side, was on R side overnight • 09/16/26 10:32 Sedated rads with 0.22cc Dexmed • 09/16/26 13:57 hub of ace given for comfort patient yelping. • 09/17/26 08:39 Still unable to walk. In a lot of pain. Going to add on 400mg Gabapentin PO BID x 10 days and 50mg carprofen PO BID x 7 days per protocol. Got him to eat a little bit of wet food. Noticed he has no testicles, observed a tattoo, changed to neutered. Urine in his kennel but no BM. Gave 2ml carprofen SQ. • 09/17/26 10:18 Eating cat wet food very well. Removed IVC due to >3 days old.
