Message from Owner

Riker is an indoor outdoor cat and has been so for over 2 years and knows the boundaries of the yard. During the storms last week, he may have hunkered down somewhere around Piedmont Road and Cajun Rd. He never leaves the yard and always greets the residents upon their return. Fear is that he has jumped into someone's vehicle. May have gone walkabout to explore the yard behind the hse but normally comes back when his name is called

LOST INDOOR An escaped indoor cat will be scared and will want to get back inside. Typically, they do this at night in the safety of darkness. Right away, before it leaves to find food, keep the door/window it escaped from cracked open 24/7 to allow it back in. If it escaped from a window, put a box under the opened window to make it easier to get back in. Turn off porch and foyer lights and contain pets in another room. It might take all night for it to come back inside. Do not put food or litter box out because you don't want territorial cats or wildlife there who could keep kitty away. You can try sitting outside in the evening and jiggling its dish with food in it and calmly call it to come and eat, as you would normally do. Wait and listen for a meow. It might be afraid of you. Do not chase or follow it because you want it to stay by the house. Inform neighbors and post laminated, readable LOST fliers with pic and phone number and "Do Not Chase" on STOP signs. They have been known to get stuck in a garage or shed and to travel up to 500 feet or 9 houses away. Report lost cat to and check local animal control. If in Cobb County check CC Animal Services intake photos - https://www.cobbcounty.gov/animal-services/lost-found-pets. ONLINE recovery advice/support: go to LostCatsGeorgia.com (even if not in GA) and register. It is a free service.
