Message from Owner

Please help Shadow come home. Shadow is family, and home just isn't home without her. She may be scared and hiding. Please check under porches, in garages and sheds, in bushes, and under cars near Salty Brine State Beach / Galilee. If you see her, please don't chase her - call or text right away with the time and exact location.

If you have an indoor cat that has gotten outside don't wait to scent drag to help lure your cat back home!! Start ASAP and do this daily! If it rains then do it immediately when the rain stops. I have included a "how to" video from an expert tracker here in CT named Stella Dan Montouri of Dog & Drone Search D&D. Follow this video and feel free to reach out to me with questions. Dan may not be able to travel to you but he always offers advice/ideas. Please do not đźš« place a dirty litter box outside as it attracts other cats that can push your cat away and it attracts predators looking for a meal. If you are able to leave a garage door slightly open or a window to allow your cat access then do so. Cats are usually close by and they can follow the scent. If you have or can borrow a humane trap this can assist you if the cat won't come inside. Many cats the longer they are outside go into fight or flight mode due to fending for their lives outside. Don't take it personally if your cat acts scared and won't come to you or their name. Humane traps are also available for purchase at Home Depot and Tractor Supply stores. If you cat is microchipped then report the cat missing to the microchip company. Call your veterinarian and notify them. Call the Animal Control Officer in your town and local police (non emergency number). Download a list of rescues/shelters (from Petfinder) in the state and email them all and inform them that your cat is missing along with some very good photos of the cat and the microchip number. Provide your contact number should the cat be given to any of them. Even if it is at the other end of the state you never know if a cat hitches a ride or somebody picks them up where they can end up. If you live on a border between two states do the same with the next close state to you. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19oiK9pVn9/

Please report your lost baby to your local animal control as well as your local rescues, vets and shelters with a picture in case they are brought in injured or for a chip check. Include Groomers and Pet Stores. Put up lots of flyers! Give to neighbors, attach to mailboxes, put up at stores, library, grocery stores. Give to your postal carrier as they see animals all the time! Sit outside and read a book out loud, the sound of your voice may lure him/her back if he’s close by. Drag his/her bedding around the area of your home. If it rains you may have to do this numerous times. Register for free at www.pawboost.com and www.petfbi.org These accounts will send out an alert that she/he is missing, and send you an alert if anyone were to report a cat found near that location. That account could help get your cat back home too. Put on Facebook lost pets page in your town/state and on your local town page! Check trees, under, in and behind things in your yard and others often. Make your neighbors aware. Please check yours and neighbor’s garages, sheds, porches, barns, basements and under and in vehicles. Cats like to come out @ night so leave A LIGHT ON THE PORCH WITH FOOD and IT'S BEDDING near a CRACKED OPENED DOOR OR WINDOW FOR ENTRY.... NEVER put out litter boxes as it could be used by another cat which could DETER return or attract predators. Use a camera or baby monitor to watch for his/her return, using a Havaheart trap with tuna or smelly fish to catch them as well as an unlaundered piece of your laundry - If do you put food out be very careful and monitor very closely as it can attract predators. You can borrow a trap from animal control or cat rescue. The ACO or a rescue can help you on how to trap a cat. Never leave trap unattended. If there are sightings set up a feeding station and camera at sighting area, then when he is spotted on camera you can trap him. It can be helpful to use a flashlight at night to spot its eyes! Look around shrubs, under cars, decks, porches, in garages, sheds, up in trees, in yours and neighbor’s yards. Calling for it several times a day and shaking treats, indoor cats can become disoriented. Calling out helps in RECOGNIZING YOUR VOICE AND DIRECTION! Your cat is in survival mode and may not act as they usually did, he is afraid. Continue to check & recheck EVERYWHERE. Monitor Facebook, Craigslist and Nextdoor sites for found cats. www.wanderingpawsk9.com is a reputable pet tracker out of Massachusetts to help you and they do multi-state tracking.
