Here are some tips to help you find your cat: You can contact animal control and police in case someone finds your cat and calls them. Also use pawboost, lostmykitty and petfbi to list your cat as well. With Lostmykitty, their free option includes making a flyer, and I believe they email a photo to all the local shelters. They also offer an amber alert where they will call and leave a message about your missing cat to all your neighbors. If you choose the free optionr first, they than usually offer you a discount on the amber alert. Probably the most helpful thing you can do is see if your town and surrounding towns have community Facebook groups and join them andy share this post there. These are the people who will see your cat! And if you haven't already, post your lost cat on the many missing pet sites on Facebook. There are usually several for specific areas. When indoor only cats get outside, they often start acting wild, making it hard to catch them. You can try setting a humane trap in your yard. This has helped many people catch their cats. Also having a trail camera will let you know if your cat is coming around. And usually indoor cats are very frightened outside, so they find a good hiding spot nearby and often stay there. So search with a flashlight at night and look for glowing eyes in hiding spots and up in trees. Sometimes when an indoor cat gets out, they start acting a bit feral. So if you are able to leave the door your cat got out of a little open or even a window, they might come back in on their own when no ones around. This has worked for me before. Also, call all the local vets and emergency vets and email them a photo so they can keep an eye out if anyone brings your cat to the vet. Lastly, check the local shelters on Facebook regularly as they usually post pictures of the animals they receive. You can also file a missing pet report with them and you can go to them in person and look at the cats they have. I hope you find your cat soon. 💚

Tips for finding your cat. This is how I recently helped my friend find her lost cat. You MUST go and search for them because they may not be able to find their way home. Please try doing these things, ESPECIALLY walking around in late evening and/or early morning and calmly calling your cat then stopping periodically to listen for their reply/meow. Cover the same area over and over, EVERY day. (I've read they rarely travel more than 500 feet from home.) Go out at dusk & walk around & calmly call them. Cats can become fearful outdoors, even of their owners. If they gets treats, take a box & shake it gently. Walk, call, then listen to see if you hear their meow. Take a flashlight & shine it under every nearby car, bush, etc. looking for eyes reflecting. Put blankets or clothing with your scent on your porch or patio. Ask neighbors to make sure they didn't get shut inside a shed, garage, etc. Put posters w/ their photo & your number at every nearby stop sign & red-light & give 1 to your mail carrier. Give their photo & your number to any regular walkers or joggers. This is how my friend's cat was found, a jogger saw him. If none of this works see if someone can loan you a small humane trap & set it up w/ food & check it often. Praying they make it back home soon! 🙏 This takes some time, effort & a little money but it's totally worth it. ❤️

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby

Since he was lost under those circumstances, call some SAR search groups for advice, and check their sites for lists of search tips. Also, go sit near the area he escaped the kennel, several times each day, to create a scent area w your smell. Like Robi said, the spca may have traps you can use.

The effectiveness of signs posted quickly all around the area can not be overstated. Reaches those not on social media and lets neighbors know he/she's not a stray.

Go out at night with a flashlight to see eyes shining in the dark. He is probably scared & hiding nearby. Put out an unwashed shirt where you saw him last. Talk to all neighbors. Put up posters too.
