Message from Owner

Please help me bring my Panzón home. He was just a stray kitten that I started taking care 4 years ago and we have formed a very close bond. He runs when he hears my voice or my car pull up. We recently moved to a new area and we decided to bring him and two other strays that we have been taking care of for 4 years. Two have returned but sadly Panzón has not. I know he is scared and hungry so he will be skiddish, but he is normally a very sweet loving cat and he will come if food is offered to him. Please help me find my Panzón.

Sheila Morris I'm hoping that once he sees me and his siblings he'll know that he is safe just like at the other house. We have a strong bond, which is why me not knowing where he is, is so much harder.

Sheila Morris as soon as we got here he got out and ran. His two siblings that came with him are starting to stay around more and I'm hoping that he hears them because they were all close. They call out loud, so I'm still hopeful.

Lisa Alderete-Delgado cats have an innate ability to "home" to former locations no matter the distance. We had a cat who repeatedly returned to his former home for an entire year. Then he finally accepted the new house.

Lisa Alderete-Delgado how long was he kept indoors to acclimate to your new home? Was it long enough to get his scent widely distributed?

Sheila Morris when I call out for him I'm almost in tears because I still haven't been able to find him. I will definitely try these tips, thank you very much! 🙏

Sheila Morris I do that every day thinking the same thing. He doesn't know the way back there because he would never really leave the area we lived in. He would always stay very close by because he had 5 siblings that we also take care of. We were able to bring two of them with us and they are gradually exploring their surroundings but they still hide because of all the new noises. I know this will take time, but I am patient. I'm just worried about Panzón 😞

This also works for in/out kitties- Since he/she's an indoor kitty, he/she's likely very nearby, within a 7 house radius, hiding in fear. One of the most effective tips I see posted is- Take treats and a flashlight out when it's dawn/dusk/ night. Walk slowly, shine light under bushes and other areas, like decks and crawl spaces, and up into trees. Pause, shake treats, calmly call his/her name. Listen for rustling sounds or replies. Take a few more steps, repeat. OnlY do this within your own yard, so you don't accidentally encourage your cat to leave the immediate area. Many cats will not reply even to owners when lost. Important to keep ur voice calm and gentle, even though ur stressed and panicked. Post on NextDoor. Notify mail carrier that ur looking for him/her. Notify neighbors so they know he/she's not a stray if they see him/her. Look at neighbors doorbell cams for sightings. ****Indoor cats will often try to get back inside, but can't find a way in.**** If safe, leave a door or window cracked, with smelly cat food and/or your worn clothing nearby. If not safe to leave door open, make sure u still leave water out for him/her. Food, too, if u can keep an eye on it to make sure dominant strays don't get to it and consequently keep him/her away. Hope kitty's home soon

He may be homing to ur previous location. Do your searches in both areas.
