Go to the shelters to see if your dog/cat is there, if not Get your flyers up! Do not rely on social media alone, most of my missing animals come home, because of physical flyers! I do 8X11 in the immediate area 4 per block, the bigger the area 3 per block and so on. I've had the most success with the 4 per page mini handouts of the same flyer. I will give these to the Mailman, UPS, Fedex, Garbage man, Gas stations, Grocery stores. Also fluorescent backgrounds at major intersections 8X11 or bigger. Also law enforcement and animal control. More than likely, it's not going to be your eyeballs.That bring your pet home.Also not everybody has social media. So we need as much help as we can get from the community. So make it easy for them to get a hold of you. and remember the harder you work, the luckier you get! I hope these suggestions help you get your animal home soon and safe. 🙏

For Apollo’s people: Please read the advice shared on the Missing Animal Response Network. They have a page specific to lost cat behavior. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ If you have not already, visit neighboring homes and ask them to look into their garages and outbuildings, checking multiple times while sitting patiently, and quietly. Cats get scared when in strange places and won't necessarily bolt for the door when it is opened, and might not even run to a familiar person if they happen to be present. Also, post flyers - don't rely upon everyone having access to on-line posts. Check every logical and illogical place your cat may have gotten into on your property, to name just a few: cabinets/drawers — high and low; behind/under cushions on sofas, liners under sofas; closets; in garages/basements/sheds. Don’t forget to check in with local vets and animal shelters. Some have had success with placing a humane trap in their backyard - luring kitty in with a serving of their regular food; also with leaving clothing/blankets with your and/or their scent. If you have not already, post to Pawboost and/or Nextdoor. Each has their own audience and can be highly effective. Finally, for any reading this, please keep a bowl of water (ideally freshened every 2-3 days) in your garages/outbuildings for those instances when a neighborhood critter happens to find themselves trapped.
