❗ Please do this daily 🚨Cats, especially indoor cats, indoor/outdoor cats don't go far from their home please do this during the daytime. Ask neighbors to check their garages sheds and basements, sometimes they get trapped in them . Get their permission to look in their yards, under their porches and decks, under and behind their sheds, look in, under, behind wood stacks,in crawl spaces,on fences,on the bottom,at their base, in bushes,up trees, up poles , on rooftops, use a flashlight to look in these dark and tucked away spaces, even in the day, look for the eye shine,or reflective glow of the cat's eyes. ❗ Please try this ❗ Around sunset, Put a dish, not a can of fishy wet food,or tuna outside near the escape area, put a minicamera pointing at the food dish,so you can observe from your device(s) what animals go up to the food dish, if you see your cat, later,or the next night, set up a humane (Havahart type ) trap nearby, put the food dish inside, and attach the minicamera to the ceiling, inside the trap, pointing down, at an angle,so you can see from your device what animals go inside the trap, put some wet food outside the trap, put a towel over the trap, covering the trap, not the entrance,if possible, use one of your towels,or your cat's unwashed towels.,or throws. You can rent,or borrow a Havahart trap from your local animal shelter,SPCA,from someone who does TNR and rescue, from a veterinarian, you can rent one from a hardware store, or buy one from a Harbor Freight for $30. Recommended Camera Models (All with Night Vision) 1. Blink Outdoor 4 (Best Overall Wire-Free Option) • Power Type: 100% Wire-Free (Runs completely on 2 AA lithium batteries). • Night Vision: High-definition Infrared (IR) night vision for clear grayscale footage in total darkness. • Trap Deployment: Extremely easy to position inside a larger humane box trap or strap to a nearby tree facing the entrance because there are no cords to manage. • Important Requirement: Must stay within wireless range of its included Sync Module plugged inside your house. 2. Wyze Cam v4 (Best Value If Near a Power Source) • Power Type: Wired (Requires a continuous power cord / USB connection). • Night Vision: Advanced Color Night Vision that reveals full-color details in low-light settings, alongside traditional black-and-white IR mode for pitch blackness. • Trap Deployment: A tiny cube with an IP65 weatherproof rating and a strong magnetic base that can snap onto a metal plate attached to your trap. • Important Requirement: Has no internal battery. It must be plugged into an outdoor outlet or a portable power bank via USB. 3. TP-Link Tapo C113 / 2K (Best for Offline Local Recording) • Power Type: Wired (Requires a continuous power cord / DC adapter). • Night Vision: Crisp 850 nm Infrared night vision providing clear images up to 30 feet away in the dark. • Trap Deployment: Compact mini bullet style that can be easily wire-tied or zipped to the interior frame of a humane trap. • Important Requirement: Has no internal battery. It supports local MicroSD card storage, allowing video to record directly to the device without requiring a monthly cloud subscription. How to Fasten and Position the Camera • Zip Ties / Cable Ties: Run heavy-duty zip ties through the camera's mounting bracket or base, weaving them tightly through the wire mesh at the top ceiling of the humane trap. • Heavy-Duty Magnets: Secure a small metal plate to the top exterior of your trap mesh. This allows cameras with built-in magnetic bases (like Wyze) to snap firmly into place from the inside. • Camera Angle: Point the lens downward and slightly angled toward the bait. This ensures you observe both the food and the animal's face, helping you safely identify if you have caught the target animal, a raccoon, or a neighborhood pet. Essential Deployment Checklist • Enable Night Vision Mode: Ensure the camera's setting is set to 'Auto' or forced 'On' for Night Vision/IR mode before leaving the trap, as target animals are highly nocturnal. • Verify Wi-Fi Signal: For live streaming, test your Wi-Fi connection directly next to the trap setup outside to guarantee the live feed loads cleanly without delay. You can get these minicameras on Amazon or Walmart

If he doesn’t have access to the building, you may need to go out late at night with his carrier to get him home. Place unwashed clothes or towels inside of and on top of the carrier. Bring smelly treats with you: tuna, Churu paste cat treats or pieces of rotisserie chicken. Sit quietly nearby and speak softly. No sudden movements to spook him. When the time is right, quickly grab him and hold him firmly against you. Get him quickly into the carrier and make sure it’s secure.

Tips for Lost Cats If you haven’t yet, leave some articles of your unwashed clothing (socks, shoes, t-shirt, a pillowcase) outside for him/her to smell home. Change these out daily to keep the scent fresh. Never leave food or a litter box out, as this attracts coyotes/predators. 📍>>If you can, starting tonight please leave a door or window (even a garage door) cracked open for him/her to return through, especially during the night when it’s quiet out and when cats are most active; this works well, but may take a few nights if they are in hiding. Leave the articles of clothing near the opening. It helps to leave some food out inside the home to help lure him/her in. Don’t give up - cats typically attempt to return home during the night/early morning hours (~1a-5a).<< (keep any other pets safe in a secure room while doing this) Your cat is probably hiding nearby. Go out late at night w/ a flashlight and look for your cat’s eyes. You can try shaking a treat bag if your cat normally responds to that. Check shrubs, under cars, crawl spaces, up in trees and on roof tops (in case your cat has been chased). If you see your cat outside, he/she may be too scared to come to you - sit quietly and have some tuna, Churu paste cat treats and even a wand-type toy to help lure them over to you. Have neighbors check their garages/sheds. Leave out some water, since it’s hot out. Post signs around the neighborhood (even further out at intersections in case kitty has been chased out of the area), since some people are not on social media. *Beware of scam calls/texts/emails/messages/comments. Post on NextDoor, Ring and on local Lost & Found Pets group pages. Check and notify surrounding animal shelters and leave flyers there - also, take flyers to vet offices/ER vets, where someone may take your cat for a chip scan. If microchipped, notify the chip company that your cat is missing. Update/verify contact info if needed. If you have motion sensing cameras, check them to see if kitty has returned to the yard. IF she/he is still young, she/he may respond to sweet, gentle meowing sounds - either do this yourself or download a cat communicator type app to your phone and play sweet, gentle, friendly meowing/purring sounds to lure her/him out of hiding. Best wishes.
