***Lost cat: How to find a lost cat- LOST CATS: Make flyers with photo and a contact number. Handout to neighbors and area businesses. Ask neighbors to check sheds/ garages and security cameras for sightings. Chances are that she is nearby. Put her carrier with a worn t shirt of yours in it, chances are she'll curl up in the carrier. Leave the door /window open and maybe she/he will come back inside. Put tuna, sardines or mackerel next to the open door/window. Placing a litterbox outside is not recommended. The scent of feces and urine can attract predators and/or unaltered cats who are very territorial and may hinder your cat remaining in the area. Distribute flyers among your neighbors. If you live in an apartment complex ask management to send out an email to everyone. Sign up and post using the ‘Nextdoor’ app. Plus, inside cats that have gotten out ,are usually frightened & will, almost always, hide during the day. Go out early am, or at dusk, to look for them. Call them. Let them hear your voice. Don’t let your dogs or loud kids follow you. Open a can of tuna and tap the can with a fork or spoon. Look up in trees with a flashlight, if it’s dark. Look for glowing eyes. Usually close by unless they’ve been chased. Good luck. And also let the mail carrier , UPS, Fedex , and Amazon drivers know and share a flyer with them. Since they’re in the entire neighborhood.
