Meg Barber “Clearly they let this cat out on purpose”? That’s not only an incredibly presumptuous statement but an ignorant one as well. Those who judge define themselves not others, read that again…….

My grandfather firmly believed that keeping a pet indoors was inhuman, cruel and unethical. If only he was still alive today. What an exciting debate the two of you would have ...

Tanya Kennedy Luminati Clearly they let this cat out on purpose, as many do. They're domesticated. They're not lions or tigers or pumas. There's so much danger out there. They need to be keep indoors.

I would suggest that is a good rule to refrain from offering criticism or judgement without full knowledge of the circumstances of any event. There are many legitimate reasons have indoor/outdoor pets, especially in more rural areas, and there are times when indoor cats mistakenly get outside. In the last year here in Fairfax Station, at least two of the cats that were (presumably) ed up by the coyotes were in fact indoor cats that were inadvertantly put outside under absolutely tragic circumstances. I hate to think that any sort of 'shame' comments might have been made to that poor family, in particular.

If you haven’t already posted on Nextdoor, please do so. that site has a lot of reach beyond people that are lost pet facebook group followers. large signs with clear pictures in key intersections is also essential for those people that are not on social media.

Meg Barber shaming pet owners does not help them find their pet. I’m sure they regret her being outside.
