Message from Owner

Our cat, Purrcy, escaped home last night in Rolling Meadows. He's a one year old tabby cat, very long and also tall. He weighs about 14 lbs. He is very social, sweet, and loves attention. If you see him he may come to you, especially for a treat or some belly pets. My kids and I adore him and we're feeling very heartbroken and worried today. Please message me if you live nearby and want to help search. We live on Hummingbird Lane. Thank you!

Alicia Armstrong don’t give up and hang in there. Sometimes this is quick and other times it takes a while. If Puurcy was normally an inside only cat he may be hiding close by, they usually don’t move too far. The tricky thing though is they do tend to revert a bit to more of a wild animal mode, fearful of humans, hide during the day, move about at night, etc. dogs tend to run around, cats do not. He could be hiding in tight spaces, drainage tunnels, patches of brush cover, etc. Use a flashlight at dusk/dawn when looking as his eyes will glow. The longer he is out there also the more likely you will need to use a trap. Hopefully you get him back soon, but hang in there.

Mark Neverdahl thank you for sharing this! We got some signage up today around the area with a yellow circle. I think he's an explorer and could be beyond this area. It took us over 2 hours to print the signs then tape them to poles in this area alone.

Alicia Armstrong you are doing all the right things. Do u have neighbors with ring or blink cams or do you have one. Those are good places to leave food out and see who passes thru. Otherwise buy or borrow a trail cam. Those are good to have to see who is eating the food and visiting

Inna Larsen Done! Thank you so much. I'm printing flyers tomorrow. Today we did a lot of leg work including most of what you said, looking around with the flashlight with the kids tonight, we covered a lot of ground. I printed some photos of him and put them in neighbor's mailboxes with our phone number or handed to them in person today. I'll get up early and call for him in the morning in areas where I know he likes to explore near home. Registered him lost with the humane society, posted him on multiple social media spaces. Notified the company who chipped him that he's missing. It's exhausting but hopefully worth it. He's a sweet cat. Very friendly and social. I appreciate your advice!

Dawn Wait thank you so much for your kindness and great advice! We're trying all of this. It's tough because there is so much ground to cover. I'll be searching more tonight. If he's not back tomorrow we will start putting up flyers.
