Put a piece of your clothing outside and go outside and shake a bag of his favorite treats esp at night and early morning calling his name. Also go to the humane society in person and check yourself. Xoxo ❤️

Mandee Tenney, cats don't like change, so even though Dobby is an indoor cat he was likely upset by the move and though he could find the place he used to know -- where he felt safe and secure (your old home). When he got outside he likely panicked and hid close by, too scared to come when called or emerge in the daylight. He won't necessarily recognize the home, but he should be able to find his way back to his starting point, unless his hunger has caused him to wander far enough away from home that he's lost his sense of direction. Let me share a strategy you can try now, and if this doesn't work in the next 48 hours, I will provide more comprehensive instructions. DURING THE DAYTIME, alert nearby neighbors in case Dobby is hiding just beyond your property (under a vehicle, in a garage, shed, or carport, etc.) -- ask if he's been seen on security cameras at night or if anyone in the area feeds cats outside, then, if there’s time before dark and you can search without dislodging him from his hiding spot, focus your efforts close to home and tiptoe around using a flashlight, but be quiet and discreet so as not to frighten him (shhh! DO NOT CALL or shake treats), check every crack and crevice, look in, under and around sheds, vehicles, furniture, under foundations and porches, into trees etc. but suspend searching when it gets dark to give him the chance to return voluntarily. Again, AT DUSK lay a familiar blanket or worn teeshirt flat on the doorstep where he escaped (DO NOT USE a litter box, bedding, trap or anything anything obvious -- it's there for scent only) to give Dobby the confidence to come out of hiding, and place tempting food in front of the door (making sure you can still open it when kitty returns). Call him softly to provide a familiar sound and direction, then watch and listen closely from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUT AFTER DARK!) and if you see Dobby approach and settle on the food be very careful not to startle him as you slowly and quietly provide a clear path back inside. If you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time to return. Please let me know what happens tonight and if he's not back by morning, I'll provide more detailed instructions. Hang in there.

Diana Ellis He is an indoor cat and is very afraid of other animals. We had just moved so he got out while the door was open and we were moving things inside. I didn't think I had to worry about it because he has never tried to go outside before and we left the doors open but the place was new and he was scared. I will do as you suggested but I do not know that he would even recognize what home to come too.

Aww. Dobby is a beautiful reverse gray tuxedo cat (white cat with gray markings on head, back and tail) — I’m sorry he is lost. Is Dobby an escaped indoor cat or is he allowed outside? His familiarity with the environment will dictate how to find him. Escaped indoor cats usually hide close by but are too frightened to return or respond when called; while a cat that knows his way around may have become stuck somewhere and needs help getting home. I have recovered many lost cats and assisted others so if you tell me about Dobby I can provide complete instructions that may help. Please understand an escaped cat may emerge when it's dark and quiet to sneak back inside — if you do just the right things. This usually happens within the first few nights and I see it's been longer, but until I hear back from you please implement this strategy if Dobby got out accidentally: tonight lay a familiar blanket or worn teeshirt flat on the doorstep — do not use a bed, trap, or anything conuous -- along with tempting food at his point of escape, then watch from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUTSIDE AFTER DARK!) and if you see Dobby approach and settle on the food be careful not to startle him. Slowly and quietly provide a clear path inside and he may put an end to the crisis himself. (You may occasionally call for him overnight, but do so softly and from the doorway -- going back outside could scare him away. If you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time.) And although some will suggest putting out kitty's litter box, experts say DON’T DO IT. I've never used one in all the times I've been successful recovering a lost cat.
