Bad reviews about Leon County Humane Society...Google them to read moreYour response is an attempt to save face and excuses and false.I called the office for weeks to see how to return carrier and never could reach a person. At this point there’s no reason I should entertain your response or assist you. If you don’t want people calling you perhaps you shouldn’t post your number on the door for all to see. You are the rude one. I bet you don’t talk to Subaru this way. Last weekend I returned a pet Carrier from where the LCHS adopted out a pet to a person who left the pet carrier and pet abandoned on our property. I spoke with April and Lisa. Neither wanted to talk on their phones. Lisa gave me another number to text and about a week later after texting that number and calling several times throughout. During this second call, you refused to follow up during work hours on the office line which most reasonable people would deem appropriate. You did get hung up on as you refused to listen, spoke over me, and you've been very disrespectful. We stand by our adopted animals for life. If a cat was abandoned at your rental property, we'd like the name of the former tenant so we can see if it may have been adopted from LCHS and to notify other rescue groups to avoid another animal going through this. Lisa Glunt, lglunt@leoncountyhumane.org the week days only to be ignored. Lisa was rude and hung up on me saying weekends aren’t a good time to talk. I explained I’ve called several times during the week days and sent text only to be ignored. Based on my experience they don’t care about animals that they adopt out that are later abandoned. I’m sure I could have gotten more help calling Subaru than I received from them. ❤️🙏10

Owner was lied to. A return phone call said that they talked to the director and the director said that 'they would keep him until owner got back on her feet and to bring him that day". That they were making an exception people. Why didn't they call the owner and say 'out of time' can you come and get him?" Owner would have borrowed money on her car title to get him. The right thing to do was to make a phone call to the owner...

The LCHS doesn't board animals. If they did so for one individual, it'd set an untenable precedent. I'm sorry Cody's human had to surrender him, but grateful the LCHS had room in their foster program to keep him safe, and ultimately find him a home.

LCHS went out of the way to help this woman in a difficult situation. LCHS does not 'hold' animals for people. When you 'owner surrender' an animal, you give up all rights. This lady should be thankful her cat was left in good hands, fully vetted, and adopted by wonderful people. I hope her situation has improved and she is able to replace her cat soon. Remember, kindness goes a long way.

This post is not an honest depiction. I am the person who helped with the legal SURRENDER of Cody when the owner reached out for help due to loss of housing and an uncertain living situation moving forward. Aware of the situation, I recommended she seek help through her doctor and obtain an ESA letter. I heard nothing for a month. Cody was fully vetted by LCHS, acclimated wonderfully thanks to the staff and volunteers, and he was adopted to a nice couple who visited him several times. I heard from the former owner last week and informed her that he'd been adopted. Rescue is incredibly difficult work. Before siding with an individual trying to make a rescue or shelter look bad, please know there's always more to the story.

Please don’t give up on again speaking with the Humane Society. Go up the ladder and try contacting the person that is in charge of the cats and also the Director and advise what proof substantiates what you say. Hope it all works out.
