Janet Cox - my indoor cat was gone for a week and one day... We did most of what you have suggested MINUS calling for the cat - I was advised it could confuse and disorient the cat... We left out tuna the last night and in the stillness of the night around 11pm... She returned!! Never give up hope. I don't know where my cat had retreated to most likely in my own yard somewhere.... Also suggest putting out some of the cats used litter to help orient their bearings (senses - very keen noses)...

Many indoor cats return when it's quiet and dark usually between 9:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. so if it is possible, leave the door/window (or garage) open slightly for him to return. If you have any other pets secure them in a room for the night. This works well for these indoor cats that get out. Put out some worn clothing with your scent and keep calling for him frequently as he should hear your voice. Check your yard and ask your neighbor if you can check their yards/patios/bushes thoroughly with a good flashlight. Put up lots of posters with a large colored picture of him around your area. You can also purchase a humane trap at Rona, Canadian tire or on Marketplace. This method works well for these shy indoor cats that get out. Line the bottom of the trap with newspaper and cover the sides and top with a sheet...don't cover the back. You would have to Google how to set it up properly to trap a cat for best results.
