You may already know all of this so I apologize up front as I copy/paste this several times every day! ….Every 24 hours, place dirty and “smells like you” clothing, and/or empty vacuum cleaner contents around the periphery of the yard. -Set out the pets blanket, bed or whatever on the porch. Anything that can get the scent of home out there may help draw the dog home. Open your windows if possible. Dogs have a keen sense of smell and can smell from many miles. -Make flyers with picture saying LOST DOG. Put up 1-4 miles from where found. -Drive and look -ask people outside if they have seen your dog- but DO NOT CALL their name! Calling randomly can confuse pets as to where you are. If the dog hears you near ABC St. & you then drive to XYZ St. and call their name, they may get further lost. Walk around and ask neighbors if your pet has been seen. -If he has a favorite squeaky toy, take it out in the yard and squeak it several times a day. He may hear it and it may lead him to you. -Sit outside and talk or read aloud in a normal, calm voice -GO and check local shelters, and after several days contact rescues as they pull dogs from shelters often and may have your pet. Get on the rescue sites, lost & found sites, etc… social media pages and see if your dog is in any shelter or rescue photos. And please… WHEN your pet gets home, please edit the top of the original post with something like **Back with family**or *** BACK AT HOME *** etc… in all your originally listed different groups. That way IF this baby goes AWOL again we can locate you fast!
