Message from Owner

Our beloved Ziggy got out last night around 11:30pm. She escaped during a bear encounter. We live in Meadow Lakes neighborhood by cold creek. The neighborhood across from Sierra hse Elementary school. We live off Plateau Circle. We believe she stayed in our neighbors shed in their backyard last night as their dog was very curious about what was in there this morning. We believe she ran off when the dog scared her. She believe she is near by, just terrified and hiding. She is all black, short-haired domestic cat. About 8 pounds, very small. She is 16 years old. Has kidney disease and pancreatitis. We are worried about her because without food and water her systems start to shut down. It is also going to be very cold tonight. Please contact us with any information of her sighting, etc. thanks so much đź’—

Still lost. Last sighting was Monday afternoon running through Teepee Court. We are asking neighbors to check their sheds, low clearance crawl spaces, wood piles, garages, any tight hiding spaces in your back/side yards. 🙏 check cameras, any information would be helpful. Help bring her back home. We miss her terribly. Thanks. 💗💗💗

‼️CRITICAL UPDATE PLEASE READ‼️BEHAVIOR WARNING: Because she had an encounter with both a bear and dog(s) she is in extreme "survival mode." She is completely terrified, meaning she will NOT come out if called by a stranger and will stay 100% frozen and silent in a tight space. 🙏 NEIGHBORS: Please physically look under your low-clearance decks, porches, crawl spaces, and inside your sheds/garages. If you think you see her, please do not chase or grab her as she will run. Take a photo if possible and call/text us immediately at 916- 990-8240 or 916-761-1031 near Meadow Lakes/Plateau circle and Fairmeadow Trail and Help us bring our old girl home safe.

TIPS TO HELP FIND LOST PET: ✅Place his/her bedding, your shoes, a piece of your unwashed clothing (such as a sweatshirt, blanket, pillowcases) and food/water outside *if there is coyotes in the area bring the food in at night*. 🚫Do not put litter box outside. Putting the litter box outside can attract predators and other cats which might keep your cat from returning home🚫 *Putting out the other items listed above, are scents only your cat will recognize* ‼️ They might be nearby and can’t figure out how to get inside ***IF you have a garage or door/sliding door that can be left open*** Leave the garage/ or door cracked for them and place the shoes, bedding, and unwashed clothing in the garage‼️ ‼️Setting a trap on your porch, in garage or backyard is also a good idea. Many cats go into survival mode when out of their element and scared and may not come to you on their own. Most skittish cats will hunker down and stay nearby so a trap is very helpful as well. ✅Walk around the area calling them calmly early morning and late evening when it’s quiet & shake a bag of treats(if they like treats), or can of tuna etc. ✅If he/she is microchipped contact the microchip company to report him/her lost and make sure your contact info is up to date. ✅Hang flyers (use a bright colored board or paper) with picture in your neighborhood, surrounding areas, local shopping centers, businesses, vet's offices, groomers, etc. within a five mile radius from your home. ✅Go door to door with the flyers as well and try to speak with people when handing out flyers. ✅Make a sign with his/her picture and put it in your front yard stating he/she is missing. ✅File a lost report with the shelters in your area and surrounding area shelters ✅If checking shelters in person, ask to see the animals in isolation too. ✅Check shelter websites daily (as it is updated hourly) ✅Check shelter found reports for found postings but not at the shelter. ✅Take a flyer to the shelters. ✅File online with petharbor, pawboost ✅Post on area lost and found pet and community Facebook pages, area shelter Facebook pages, Nextdoor, newspapers and Craigslist under "pets" and "Lost and Found”

Playing kitten sounds on YouTube may help. Female cats have a natural maternal instinct to take care of crying kittens.

Immediately (NOW)walk area shake treat bag or Bang on cat food can calling for your cat multiple times during the day-and-night especially when it's quiet out. Look under all bushes and in between houses. Ask your neighbors to check cameras garage, shed backyard. Post on nextdoor, get family & friends to search every day.
