Message from Owner

Please help me find Chris. Chris is an inside cat that ran out when I opened the door. He’s done this before, but has never gone more than 20 feet from the hse and will cry for me to come pick him up once he settles down. I stepped back into the hse for maybe one minute and when I came out, he was gone. I believe a feral cat may have scared him away. Been searching night and day with no sign of him. Chris has a serious heart defect that needs to be monitored. He is very sweet natured and calm. Chris did not have a collar on unfortunately, but he is micro-chipped.

Most lost cats come home/ are found between midnight-5 am so that’s a good time to look. Door to door with flyers in the area and flyers with nearby vets and shelters really helps. If sighted, It’s better not to chase, lost cats are even more skittish and spooked outside and will even run from their owners. If possible, it’s better to sit at ground level and talk in a normal voice, which will bring them closer to you. Even better, bring some food, smellier the better - tuna, shrimp, rotisserie chicken. If you can safely leave a door or window cracked open specially at night, the cat might walk back in. They can get locked by mistake in sheds garages and bats, ask neighbors to check and if they can leave doors open for a while. A frightened cat in hiding probably won’t come out when people are around.

Lost house cats usually do not go far. Look in,under, on top of all structures/trees in the near vicinity. Have a flashlight with you as his/her eyes will reflect in the dark. If you do see him/her, no sudden movements. Have some treats or his/her food with you. Also, if you can leave a door or window slightly open, he/she may come back in their own. Keep an ear to the outside after dark. Many kitties come back after dark and meow to be let back in. Leave a piece of clothing with your scent near the open space that is helpful.Have neighbors look in garages, sheds and other structures. Also if you did not see him/her get out or know for sure she/he did, check every inch of your house, she/he could be trapped or hiding somewhere. Good Luck!!

Look right around you under outbuildings, grills, decks, etc. He is prob scared and hiding. Go out at night with treat bag and shake it. Use flashlight to possibly pick up his eyes.

Here is how we got our cat back. I just gave this information to a woman that lost her cat. She put the humane trap out and heated beef broth. The cat was home within 24 hours. Please get a humane trap place the trap where the cat escaped from. Put the stinkiest cat food inside the trap cover of the trap with a towel or blanket. You do this at night, heat beef, broth, or chicken broth pour it from the trap around your house. The cats going to be hungry, smell the broth and go into the trap. Talk to your neighbors. Do they have the ring doorbell? Do they see your cat moving around? also check with your neighbors in their garages and sheds the cat could be hiding in either one. Believe me this really works my cat was missing for eight weeks until I found information on YouTube lost cat Detective Kimberly Freeman. Kimberly gave the best information on how to find my lost indoor cat.
