Message from Owner

Me and my family miss him terribly. He’s an outdoor cat that always comes back for food, water and to sleep. Please, if you see him, contact me. I worry about him so much.

Danette Barnette Yes he’s a neighborhood cat that’s lived in the area for about 2 1/2 years. There’s 4 of them that stick together in a pack. He has never been gone long like this. When another cat is in heat, he will take off, but he always comes back. This isn’t normal for him to be gone like this. One of the other neighborhood cats that my family had been helping for just as long has also disappeared. We did find him but he was extremely far away. So that’s 2 that have gone missing. We think someone has trapped and attempted to relocate them but we don’t know who because everyone in our neighborhood loves these little guys. We aren’t the only ones that take care of of him/them. There’s a handful of others that help them out as well.

How long has he been at your place - more than 2 years?

Please read the advice shared on the Missing Animal Response Network. They have a page specific to lost cat behavior. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/ Next, If you have not already, visit neighboring homes and post flyers (don't rely upon everyone having access to on-line posts), ask them to look into their garages and outbuildings, checking multiple times while sitting patiently, and quietly. Cats get scared when in strange places and won't necessarily bolt for the door when it is opened, and might not even run to a familiar person if they happen to be present. Check every logical and illogical place your cat may have gotten into on your property, to name just a couple: cabinets/drawers — high and low; in garages/bats/sheds. Don’t forget to check in with local vets and animal shelters. Some have had success with placing a humane trap in their backyard - luring kitty in with a serving of their regular food; also with leaving clothing/blankets with your and/or their scent. Finally, for any reading this, please keep a bowl of water (ideally freshened every 2-3 days) in your garages/outbuildings for those instances when a neighborhood critter happens to find themselves trapped. Good luck, I hope to read a positive update on your handsome Fireball soon!
