Message from Owner

please help bring our Malakai home. we miss him terribly. He is a 12 year-old old, tuxedo, male cat.. I was out of state and the pet sitter left a window open and I lost two cats. They failed to tell me that they were missing until I came home a month later and they were not home.. Reward for bringing him home to us.

There was a post yesterday on Nextdoor about a tuxedo cat that showed up in someone's backyard and I believe it was in olde Carlsbad. The cat was friendly apparently but they couldn't grab it because it backed off when they got closer. Please check Nextdoor .

Don't give up just because its been weeks. It's still possible they could return. Try walking around early in the mornings while its quiet and not quite light out yet. Call them quietly (cats hear well) and just stop and listen for meows and look for them in small spaces or high up. Cats will often stay nearby but hide really well. I have had this work for me twice in the past. I found my own cat across the alley way locked in the neighbors shed after gone for 2 days. I only heard her meow because I was out walking about 5 am to see if I could find her. I had walked past the shed many times before but it was during the day and too much ambient noise to hear her soft meowing. I also found my neighbors lost cat about 6 am in the winter- he was peeking out from another house about 6 homes down from his. He was gone for a couple of weeks. Turned out another neighbors kids took him from his own yard and then he escaped them too. Make sure you have already checked the local humane societies as well- all of them surrounding the are, not just the closest. If you see people walking dogs in the morning try to get a flyer to them since they may be more likely to see your cat out somewhere.
