Description

Grimm was last seen June 7th at 8:30 pm on security camera sneaking out the back door unnoticed behind a family member. She is a spayed 9 yr old Female Tortiseshell cat with medium to long fur. Her nose is half orange and half brown colored. And her fur pattern on her face makes her look like she is concerned. At the time she was wearing a blue flea collar. Grimm loves "helping" make the bed and drinking water from the faucets. She is bonded to her sister/littermate and my youngest child. She may be hiding in nearby yards as she gets scared outdoors.

Message from Owner

My child's cat snuck outside into our backyard while her grandparents were doing yard work last night while they were watching the cats for us. The dogs may had spooked her. She may or may not be wearing a flea collar.

Karen Mackey-Strickfaden thanks. Some of the cats we saw on our walks we only noticed due to the reflection of eyes. We were very consistent at first looking for her most late nights. Added more cameras on our property. Left a window open with a blanket she slept on in it until the mosquitos got too bad. But after almost 2 months we got discouraged with the increased coyote activity. Then we got a possible recent sighting on the otherside of Chapman along with help attempting to trap the cat that may be her, that has renewed my hope. We hadn't crossed Chapman looking for her at night thinking she wouldnt had crossed a busy street and would be closer by or hiding at the school or park. The school and park had so far been the possible sightings mentioned to us along with the gas station that is the further one from us. when we looked in those areas we found other tortie cats that were younger, smaller, and with shorter fur that could had looked close enough to the average person. But my heart is warmed with how many people are still keeping an eye out for our sweet girl. Its been rough because not only does my child miss her, but her littermate (who has bonded with me) just cries at windows and in Grimm's favorite sleeping spots looking for her and is losing weight because she isn't eating as much as normal. I pretty much have to sit with her in Grimms favorite spots to get her to calm down enough to eat.

Ruth Olafsdottir thank you for all that info. My daughter is placing traps tonight since she has the day off friday and can check it frequently. She has placed some blankets the cats use outside as well. If she doesnt show up by the time we get back from out of state we will do 3 am sit downs as I am usually the one the cats come out for when they sneak out. This one tho is our scardy cat runner and the sneakiest of them all.

Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they can snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.
