Search at night with a bright flashlight or floodlight. Their eyes shine bright when the light hits them, making them easy to spot. She is probably too scared to come when called.

If you can put something out in a safe place with either your mothers scent or of she's been with you awhile the cats scent and your scent on it. Put some food out when you can monitor it (otherwise other cats, raccoons, opossum may show up for the free meal) and call out calmly to her. Keep looking and calling out to her within a few houses of you. Look under behind bushes. Condolences on your Mom. I hope kitty returns to you soon.

Distribute flyers to entire neighborhood. Put a large poster with photo and phone number in your front yard for those not on social media. Check animal control daily in person- not by phone or online. Leave a flyer with them and humane societies and rescues and vets. Also your mailman. Most cats are found within a 3-5 house radius. Indoor only cats are usually much closer hiding. Best time to look is before dawn and way after dark. Very sorry about your mother.
