We found him! We put dirty socks in a clothes bag and sprinkled his litter around, along with food, while keeping the garage door open. He returned home at 11 p.m. while I was sitting outside, waiting for any chance he might come back. He and another cat were chasing and hissing at each other. I called his name, and he stopped. The other cat then fled. Tips from comments really worked. Thank you all giving advice!
