Thank you to all that helped repost. Baby is safe at home an uninjured. Apparently he flapped while he tumbled down the basement stairs, so this morning when I called out 2 him he was probably still scared. Still in some sort of shock, he found a safe and quiet spot under a table in the basement where I found hom after work.
