Message from Finder

Found this sweet, obedient boy roaming the street. Another Facebook message said the owners moved and left him. I don’t know what to do. I’ve called Kaufman county animal control who advised me they can’t pick him up unless their is a shelter or rescue will accept him. It seems the shelters are full everywhere. We have two cats and we’re in an apmt. If anyone can help us get him transitioned I would greatly appreciate it. He is good on a leash. Heartbreaking. I’ll have to release him back to the street by Sunday morning if I’m unable to get him some help. Appears one of his toes is hurt as well.

I took him to the vet and he nipped at the tech who tested for heartworm first and went to do his shots, they tried to muzzle him and he nipped again. So I didn’t proceed with shots. Next morning animal control had an opening and picked him up from me. I called the next day to check on him and they told me they had a difficult time trying to vet him. 🥲 I was rushing and didn’t communicate clearly the first time. I’m saying he is so sweet because although he tried to nip the two techs, I believe he has been so stressed being on the street, he is heartworm positive and has fleas that he is acting out because he is not well.

Chrissy Steidel I'm confused, the vet was unsuccessful in vetting him? He's heartworm positive but still so sweet? Heartworms do not make a dog not be sweet. I don't think I'm understanding you.

Jenna Hughes yes he is chipped. Owners were contacted by animal shelter. He is heartworm positive. He is still so sweet although the animal shelter and my attempt at the vet were unsuccessful in vetting him. 🥲 I hope the owners ex hubs steps up and takes him in.

Kathleen Campbell Sanderbeck please let me know. The rental agency found him after the renters moved out of the house October 8th. I hope his owners didn’t abandon him and looking for him. The rental agency put a report in with the constable and called animal control but they never showed up and that was almost 2 weeks ago. He is super skinny. Please let me know if you find a lost post. We cross posted that we found him. 🐾🙏❤️
